Brutalform Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Could someone shed some light weather he is currently casting resin parts?? A while back, I got a 1961 Impala pro street resin chassis from him, and would like to get another. Thank you in advance..
mikemodeler Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 As far as i know he is, although I don't know if he still offers the Impala chassis, he has focused more on medium and heavy duty truck conversions.
1930fordpickup Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Why not just use the Prostreet Chevelle chassis?
Force Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Maybe because it's wrong for the car. The 58-64 Impala has a X frame and the Chevelle has a perimeter frame...so if you want to do it correctly the Chevelle chassis woun't work. The Impala got perimeter frame 1965.
RAT-T Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 DOES HE HAVE A WEBSITE? IS HE THE ONE THAT CASTS THE FC JEEP CAB ON EBAY?
RAT-T Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 No thats speed city that does that one I DON'T KNOW JOHN, THE SELLERS NAME IS PORKYNPETUNIA & IS FROM NC. SCOTT IS FROM CA. THE "FC" IS FOR FORWARD CONTROL, NOT FUNNY CAR, SORRY, I SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT
Casey Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I DON'T KNOW JOHN, THE SELLERS NAME IS PORKYNPETUNIA & IS FROM NC That is Eric/P&P: http://www.ppvintagekits.com/
RAT-T Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 GREAT, THANKS CASEY. IS HE THE ONE THAT MADE THE CHASSIS THAT TOM WAS ASKING ABOUT?
1930fordpickup Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Maybe because it's wrong for the car. The 58-64 Impala has a X frame and the Chevelle has a perimeter frame...so if you want to do it correctly the Chevelle chassis woun't work. The Impala got perimeter frame 1965. That is correct about the X frame. But it is pro street not a factory option ever, X frame or perimeter frame.
Force Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Yes, but to put a body from an X frame car on a perimeter frame you have to cut the complete floor out and do a new one, but on a back halfed X frame chassis you only have to redo the rear end, so it's half the work...on a real car that is. Then we have the issue with the 7 inch difference in wheelbase, the Chevelle has 112" and the 61 Impala has 119". But on the other hand, the chassis on a full out Pro Street car could also be an all fabricated square tube, or Pro Stock type round tube chassis, with full rollcage, in that case you only use the outer body shell from the original car...it all depends on how far you want to take it. Casey Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 IS HE THE ONE THAT MADE THE CHASSIS THAT TOM WAS ASKING ABOUT? I don't know. Maybe Eric offered such a thing a while ago, but Tom would need to contact Eric and find out if it's still available or not.
Brutalform Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 I actually saw the chassis on the website. I'm waiting for a reply from them. I'd like to buy two of them. Awhile back I built a red 61, and now I'd like to build the white 'Dyno Don' car, except with a pro street stance.
Brutalform Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Here is the red one I built where I used this particular chassis. I think the Dyno Don car would look pretty neat tubbed out like this.
Brutalform Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Got a reply from them today. They said the mold is broke, and is in line to be redone, but it will take a while.
