I was looking at the online configurator for the new Mustang today...some interesting options, some odd omissions, though..no sunroof? I don't get why Ford hasn't offered a sunroof option since the Fox era..a well equipped GT is in the upper 30s.

Ford says a sun roof does not work correctly with the geometry of the Mustang roof.....at least not long term....I tend to agree too.....The double curve would be hard to engineer and keep working right for years. And I don't like 'em anyways!

I have had a tendency to only get SVT products so now that I have the 14 I will wait until the SVTversion of this new car comes and add one of those. And as for sunroofs, once you try a glass roof car you won't go back. Best option I put on my Shelby hands down. My other one is a convertible so I just pick one. Lol

I like the large sliding metal sunroofs I've had on older M-Bs and BMWs...the glass sunroof on my Caddy is nice, though the opening is a bit small.. I've had several convertibles as rentals over the years, wouldn't mind having one at some point, a sunroof is more practical for a daily driver car, IMO.

I've seen the Mustang in real life. It looks pretty good. I still like the Challenger and Camaro better. And that's not discount the Mustang. I like it. I just like the other two better. The car that everybody seems to hate on this forum is the new Corvette. Which I love. This is great that we can have debates about the looks of these cars. These cars still evoke passion. Something most cars do not do today.

I'm not surprised that this could be an issue with them, seems like a tricky roof to work one into. Personally, if I was going to screw up my car's rigidity, CG, and water tightness, I'd rather be cruising in a full on convertable (make it a hideaway hardtop please :D ) than just having some hole cut in the roof that will take away from headroom as well.

For me on the Vette, I like most of the convertable and the coupe, but the rear bumper on both and the roof on the coupe kill it for me.

I love the '14 Vette. I will be in the market for a new car next year and the Mustang convertible is a must see for me.

PS - when you see a '15 Mustang on the road, bet you change your mind.....!

I'm glad it's your choice Tim, but for me, all pony cars past '69 are missing the point. Too heavy and too 'retro' - missing the point completely. Were supposed to be big power in a small, nimble package. The new Challenger with 600HP and IRS seems interesting but I think it will be another heavy-handed styling attempt.

I agree with your XK assessment but in person, the new car does have a purity of line-like the Aston.

A dumb in little thing to note. But, I like the fact that they kept the sequential turn signals in the rear on the new Mustang. Ever since I saw that on a Thunderbird as a kid, I thought it was cool. Necessary? Probably not. But I like it.

I saw a couple of them back in January at Barrett-Jackson--Ford had a '15 GT coupe and convertible on display..looking forward to seeing them out on the road..they look better in person than in photos, IMO.

I was not impressed with photos of the 15......then changed greatly after seeing and touching one at the 50TH Mustang show in Charlotte.....much different. The back window looks like it could drop into my 1966 2+2 Mustang!! Tulip panel too!

I've been on the Ford website pricing out various models. I'm kind of interested in the eco-boost turbo model. I know, a four-banger "muscle car?" But it's very interesting. My current GT has the traditional V8, but the real truth is, 90% of the time I don't need what the car has, performance-wise. Yeah, it sounds cool, and when you want to go fast, you can, but the everyday cost is lousy fuel economy. And with gas back over $4 again, that eco-boost model is looking pretty good right now. Plus, the eco-boost model is ten grand less than the GT.

$10K up front is nice but...I understand your concerns but the 4 may not be as cheap as you think. I dunno but does it run on regular? My Optima turbo does-274HP.

Then there's the weight it has to lug (no not you... :o ) Torque low down may be soft unless they put a 5:00 rear in it.

I'm sure I'll get used to it but I really liked the retro look of the older ones. If Chevy had made the Camaro look more like the original 69 I would have had one.

Harry, I have the Eco-boost v-6 in my F-150 and it is scary quick, way more power than my last 5.0.

I also loved the retro Mustang. Heck, that's why I bought mine! Based purely on looks. I think it looks fantastic, but I'm liking the 2015. Not quite as retro, but still recognizable as a Mustang. I think the design team at Ford has handled the Mustang really well since the "new" retro look came along in '05. They've managed to freshen it up for '15 while still keeping the inherent "Mustangness." Great job on their part, IMO.

I was reading about the 2015 Mustang eco-boost performance. Pretty impressive numbers. B)

And again... ten grand less than the GT that makes its power the old-fashioned way... ^_^
