I thought about locking this a long time ago. But no forum rules have been broken. Everyone is just stating their opinions, and that's fine. No reason to lock this as long as we all play by the rules... and so far everyone has.

I do think the point has been made, both my opinion and the opposing point of view. But as long as the debate remains civil, everyone is free to add their thoughts. That's how we operate here.

BTW Marty... speaking of forum rules, posting your full name is one of them.

Harry Look at my avatar it has my last name and is my family crest........... B)

As a matter of fact, my friend Kevin Meaney which is a friend of mine here and in Facebook actually did, in a post at the SA forum, mention my 'Cuda on the cover of "the other magazine" (Model Cars Magazine) and guess what? The post was deleted. That pretty much says it all.

Not sure if it's just my perception, but it seems like the last few weeks I've been seeing SA get cited by quite a few people in different threads here. I don't get a chance to read through all the threads, all the time, but it just seems like I've been seeing it more lately.

Seems like the better approach may be to simply state that you saw something in another forum, or even "the other forum". Most folks here are in the know, and will get your drift, but it seems like that may be a bit more courteous.

It's incredible what people can get their panties twisted over these days. Coexistence is necessary, competition is necessary. Friendly competition is better than whining about someone mentioning another magazine's name.

What do you think would happen if both forums freely promoted each other? Do you think they would both implode, or would both flourish, with more members? Instead, we get scolded for the mere mention of them. This is the best way to divide users and drive some of them away. It's not bad business to mention the competition or even throw them a bone once in a while, it's bad business to censor posts and whine about them.

Tell that to 'them.' See how far it gets you. In fact, Cameron, post your message on that other forum and watch to see how fast it disappears. But don't blink.

They do delete so many posts over there. That's why there is nobody left over there....

And that's why I don't bother with 'over there' any more.

Interesting how a post about a great modeler and his model has turned into a thread about nothing. Like many others I don't frequent the other forum much, because of various reasons. I don't defend them either. What most everyone is missing is very simple, SA is a model car mag with a website and forum. If you post on that forum anything non-model car it will be deleted! They do not have an off-topic area. The topic is MODEL CARS!

MCM, on the other hand is a mag, website/ forum for models. you can post just about anything in any number of areas. You can even post general modeling topics in the General Area, just like this one. And for those who believe they should share their life story, there is an Off-Topic area.

Perhaps Gregg could add a new section and call it the, Nursery Room. That way when the blabbering and crying gets to loud you can be taken to a safe, soundproof place and stop disturbing the rest of us.

So, let me see if I understand this. Someone posts a photo of a model that is on another magazines site, one that many of the members here don't visit, and it is a serious faux pas. (What if it were any other site, would it still be such a sore subject?)

We all seem to agree it is a model worth seeing, and it also sounds like it has inspired others to build that kit. (This is good for the model manufacturer and therefore the hobby because it promotes the sale of more kits. We all want to promote the hobby don't we?)

Since that model would never have been seen in the pages of MCM or likely be posted by its' builder on the MCM forum, and it was not sneaked prematurely like a spy photo, why is it so taboo to share it here for all those who may not have seen it either on the SA site or that magazine? Seriously, what harm or damage did posting that photo here and identifying it as found on SA do to MCM?

Wouldn't that be taken as a positive thing from a publishers point of view that the core audience of MCM doesn't subscribe to either of its "competitor's" (SA) venues?

That said, who wouldn't want to see/share cool things no matter where they find them. Don't you guys surf the internet? (Ever heard of Facebook?)

Do you think every site gets jealous of every other site we visit?

What happened to the whole "modeling family mentality" and the concept of sharing as so often is espoused here?

Yeah, I do not understand this at all. . .

I mentioned Bob's model in a post 3 days ago and nobody said a word.

Here's my 2015 Mustang, of course I couldn't leave well enough alone so I lowered mine to a better looking ride height. I think I'll take it home and do a little detail painting and maybe come up with some headlight decals. The one Bob Downie did for the new issue of Scale Auto looks amazing.

Ok, I think everyone who wanted to chime in has by now. We've heard both sides, any further comments would only be rehashes of opinions already stated. Thanks for all of your input, but it's time to call this one "finished."
