Tom Geiger Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 We went to the Liars Model Car Challenge in Freeport (Long Island), NY and had a great time! The show was up this year, there were definitely more people in the hall. Traffic was light headed out to the show which made for a pleasant ride. We had time with many of our friends from local and not so local clubs. Clubs in attendance included Tri-State, Newburgh, Jersey Shore, Classic Plastic, Diversified Scalerz, MASSCAR and of course LIARS (I know I missed somebody in this list!) Had a nice lunch with my club, got to speak with many friends I hadn't seen in awhile. Looked over all the display models and checked out the vendors. I found a super deal on a magnifier light, which I've discovered I need this year! A funny story, I was sitting talking with Stu Marcus of the MASSCAR club and we were talking about the NNL non-competitive format and how trophies were less important than having a great day with friends.... then I win two awards! I won First in Light Commercial for my Volare Messenger Car and Third in Street Rod for my 1929 Ford roadster. The Ford was a big surprise since the Street Rod category is always heavily populated with amazing builds. The awards are nice plaques and it's been a long time since I won anything at a show. Icing on the cake for a great day! Many thanks to Rich Argus and the LIARS Club for a nice day out and a super show!
mikemodeler Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 What pleased me today? Hmmm....The Chicago Bears won and the Green Bay Packers lost, made my day!
Crazy Ed Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Hey Ed, Any connection?? Other than they both (when alive) have Feathers, Nope. But Hunters I've spoken to say the Cranes taste is from Dark Turkey Meat to Tender Beef!? But I think I'd need a larger Grill to Cook up a Sandhill.
slusher Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Another Plesant Day enjoying the Cranes. Today may be the last T-Shirt possiable day for a while. The Weather Critters are talkin' about a chance of Snow wednesday here! Love your photos, please keep them coming. Yes Ed please keep them coming...

Crazy Ed Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) I was happy the longest time I needed to be outside was to feed the Birds. The Temp went from 54 to 35 in just over an hour. we had Snow flurries here and the Mountains around us get Snow Covered. The Dragoons from a back window. Cochise Head, a Rock formation across the Valley in the Chiricahua Mountains And finally, Sugar Loaf. The highest point in the Chiricahua National Monument. Edited November 17, 2015 by Crazy Ed
High octane Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I spent a few hours today cleaning gutters, putting away the grille, the rocking chair, my grandsons slide and sandbox. I also got the snow-thrower out of the shed and into the garage. It started on the first pull and was a lot more eager than I am for that white stuff that will be arriving a lot sooner than I like to think about it. Yes I'm already lookin' forward to spring. LOL!

High octane Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 What please me today was that I had started my Christmas shopping.
High octane Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 My better half asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I reminded her that the car is gonna need to be repaired, and I'm also gonna need tires for the truck. So the chance of me getting a Ferrari for Christmas is slim to none.
Ramfins59 Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 After 2 years of trying, I finally won a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk promo on EBAY. i was always getting outbid at the last minute. Now I have every car for 1956. All I've got to do now is work on the 4 remaining cars I still have to finish... Chevy, Dodge, Lincoln and Studebaker and then I'll have a complete "Class of '56.
cobraman Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I had my 3 month follow up doctors appointment today. All is well and blood work showed all my numbers have improved. : ) Still need to lose some more weight but that seems to be the hardest part.
Harry P. Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I had brunch the other day with my two daughters. They live downstate, about a three-hour drive, but worth every minute on the road to see them.

Wow Harry, with that Heat I hope you were out Grillin' Dinner!! Today was the first time since Saturday that we broke into the 60's and Yep last night I did Grill Dinner - 42F with 20mph wind. On the Pleased Me side, my first attempt at growing Garlic seems to be working with ~1/3 of the cloves I planted popping Sprouts. Buying Straw to cover them tomorrow.
Crazy Ed Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Heading out Saturday morning to spend Thanksgiving week with my daughter in San Diego. You're in Luck Ray as I've heard you can't gain weight on Holidays or your Birthday, So enjoy Thanksgiving with your Family.
Roadrunner Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Received my first social security payment today, so that pleases me. Now I'll have some extra cash to play with, and that is a very good thing for me.

Roadrunner Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Congrats "old timer" as I look forward to that check every month, and have been for awhile.Thanks. Perhaps the only bad thing about it, is being old enough to receive it!
High octane Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Thanks. Perhaps the only bad thing about it, is being old enough to receive it!Being old enough to receive it is not bad, as a lot of people never get the chance to get old. It's a privilege that not everybody gets.
