berr13 Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Just finished putting the seven dash decals on the Revell '62 Corvette dashboard. My hands are shaking, my eyes are crossed, and I'm sure my blood pressure is at an unhealthy level. Whoa, that was fun...
Craig Irwin Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I bare-metaled an AMT 58 Chevy a while back, I still wake up crying every so often.........

ChrisBcritter Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I bare-metaled an AMT 58 Chevy a while back, I still wake up crying every so often......... I bare-metaled a Jo-Han reissue '58 Olds 98. I've recovered to the point where I see shadows, and can name three countries: Belgium, Belgium, and Kansas City.
berr13 Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 Sorry, no photos--I'm not technologically advanced to that point yet. The decals do give the dash a finished and detailed look, without overpowering it. I still have to do the speedometer decal, though, but there's no way I'm using the shift pattern decal. After considering the job, and the fact that I used only water to install them, I'd appreciate you all telling me about the other methods to do this--setting solutions and so forth. There have to be better ways. And Chris B? Belgium is not a country--it's a parish in Louisiana. Dora the explorer told me so...
Joe Handley Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 How about a photo of the end result? Scott By the sounds of it, that picture could have a swirl art look to it, or look similar to pictures of Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster

Tom Geiger Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Decals argh! The Revell of Germany Trabant cars have tiny little decals for everything that exists on the real car. There are minuscule little ones on the wheel hubs that are like trying to mount fleas on little oval stages! I actually lost two of them out of four. Disappeared completely. And of course the Germans give you FOUR. They should print something like eight of them on that sheet. There's room! I'm fortunate that a friend texted me that he didn't use them, and is mailing me his sheet!
berr13 Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 = Joe, I'm sure you're trying to make a point here, but I think you've lost your "focus". Take a deep breath, and try again, OK?
berr13 Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Well, we're gonna need something better than a blurry photo, like maybe a shoe size...
Craig Irwin Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 We've had a bit of fun with this but the truth is that gauge decals and bare metal foil are things I wouldn't want to build without.
7000in5th Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 i kinda like doing foil. If not I never would have tackled this foil job: Took a while and LOTS of foil but it was fun.
Tom Geiger Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 i kinda like doing foil. If not I never would have tackled this foil job: Took a while and LOTS of foil but it was fun. I like foiling. There is no single act of modeling that brings the most positive change on a model with that little effort! I actually find it relaxing.
