Tom Geiger
I'm with you on that John. Same thing with Stairway to Heaven. Way too over played. One of the New York City stations used to play this sound bite on a regular basis... Joey from Brooklyn calling in a special request, "Can you play Stairwell To Heaven?" Guest
But the boat belonged to a kooky old witch Who had in mind the flute to snitch From her broom broom in the sky She watched her plans materialize She waved her wand The beautiful boat was gone The skies grew dark The sea grew rough And the boat sailed on and on and on and on and on and on. Scale-Master
I didn't use the title. A bit of research and you would see that! Umm, I thought that would be cheating. I guess were not playing by the same set of rules. What's to keep everyone from just googling the lyrics?

Snake45
Nothing. We're playing the game on the honor system. I've googled one or two, but only if I knew that I knew the song and artist and couldn't think of the title, or knew the title and couldn't think of the artist. Haven't googled any that I didn't already know.

chunkypeanutbutter
Now it's 1984 "Knock, knock" at your front door Nobody got it? It's "California Uber Alles" by the Dead Kennedys.
johnbuzzed
I believe you're right--and I saw him do it live, too! (I think ZZ Top was the opening act, if you can believe it.) In '74, I saw Spooky Tooth, followed by ZZ Top, followed by the Edgar Winter Group (with Rick Derringer). Don't remember the first; ZZ Top was three guys, two with beards, that were a bit monotonous and Edgar and his band put on a good show ("Frankenstein" and "Free Ride"). Cobo Hall in beautiful Detroit, MI.

I've never heard it. I don't believe I've ever heard any Dead Kennedys song--not that I know of, anyway.)

They were much better than their one-hit-wonder status might indicate. I bought two of their albums--good stuff!
