Petetrucker07 Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Hot roddin with your buddys. I wish i were alive during the early days of hot roddin.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 (edited) Looks to me like what some young guys did before they had smart-phone apps for entertainment and to do their thinking for them. I can't identify the car, but it's obviously being dis-assembled (or re-assembled). The cowl panel to the left, with the louvers at the bottom and an obvious fender line would normally be attached farther to the right, to the cowl-support hoop just ahead of the steering wheel at picture center. The way it's built looks vaguely European, kinda Allard J2-ish, but not. Also kinda vaguely reminiscent of this Dick Kraft roadster, but again, not... Edited September 6, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
1930fordpickup Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 The one kid had a birthday party and decided to fix dads car. Next thing you know .............
Harry P. Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 The kid holding the steering wheel attached to nothing is pretty funny. Obviously a staged photo.
High octane Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 A LOT of photos are "staged" Harry. Dust off your old Kodak Brownie and try it.

DonW Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 There's loads of theories about this photograph. Paul is dead hence is barefoot and out of step, John's the priest in white, George is the gravedigger in denim work clothes and Ringo is the undertaker in black suit of course. Paul was 27 at the time and the number plate on the vee-dub reads 28 IF - meaning he'd have been 28 if he'd lived. On the run-out of the song Strawberry Fields John allegedly (according to the theorists) says 'I buried Paul' (in fact he really said 'Cranberry Sauce'). Ironic in a tragic sort of way that he's one of the surviving ones now. I seem to keep going off topic a lot recently.
Tom Geiger Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Kinda like my group of friends... one good mechanic, one guy qualified enough to hand off tools and the rest of the clowns are just in the way!
Greg Myers Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 It's staged. you missed the point.
Greg Myers Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 Kinda like my group of friends... one good mechanic, one guy qualified enough to hand off tools and the rest of the clowns are just in the way! I remember that too, and the guy tellin' you " You otta get some chrome rims for this thing" then another chimes in " Yeah! Some mags would look good," Hey, I got all I can do just keepin' it runnin'"
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 ... one good mechanic, one guy qualified enough to hand off tools and the rest of the clowns are just in the way! Sounds like most of the shops I've ever worked in...or visited.
Tom Geiger Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I remember that too, and the guy tellin' you " You otta get some chrome rims for this thing" then another chimes in " Yeah! Some mags would look good," Hey, I got all I can do just keepin' it runnin'" and of course none of those idjuts giving advice even owned a car!
jbwelda Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Its Charlie Manson and fellow friends from Father Flanigan's Boys Town circa 1955 jb
Harry P. Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 There's loads of theories about this photograph. Paul is dead hence is barefoot and out of step,.. For a dead guy, he looks amazingly lifelike in the photo!
Tom Geiger Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 For a dead guy, he looks amazingly lifelike in the photo! Same can be said for your Avatar!
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 For a dead guy, he looks amazingly lifelike in the photo! Obviously PhotoShopped...
Harry P. Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Obviously PhotoShopped... In 1969? Must have been an early beta test version...
Harry P. Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Interesting trivia on that Beatles photo: The photographer was on a stepladder in the middle of the road (the cops were holding back the traffic). Six photos were taken, some with the guys crossing the street left to right, some the opposite way. Paul chose the one used because it was the only one of the six shots where all four of them were walking in synch (Paul's legs are opposite the other three, but all of their legs are in the same relative position).
Harry P. Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Same can be said for your Avatar! And yours!
Harry P. Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Ironic in a tragic sort of way that he's one of the surviving ones now. And still touring, performing and recording and going strong. Ringo too.
cobraman Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 That photo reminds me of the episode of "Leave it to Beaver" when Wally and his buddies tore down Wally's "new" car in the driveway and finally had to part it out because he couldn't get it back together.
unclescott58 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I thought of "Spin & Marty" I barely remember Spin & Marty. And for some reason I only associate them with a Dude Ranch and horses. Any idea what the car would have been in their series? Scott
