10thumbs Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Hi guys, Do the Modelhaus Kits contain a chassis as well? I have a buddy that would like to have the 60 Olds 98 2dr., but is not sure about the chassis. Anyone? Thanks, Michael
Ramfins59 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I do believe that all Modelhaus kits do come with a chassis that has all details molded in. You can see what each of their kits contain when you click on them; http://www.modelhaus.com/ I hope this helps.
10thumbs Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Hi Rich, you're right. Sorry, I didn't look beforehand. I think my buddy just had the Fotki site for info. The kits do have a chassis included. Thanks for the proper link. Geez, they are nice looking models! Michael
High octane Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Modelhaus makes some great stuff as I have a few kits from there and would love to buy more, except they would just end up on the "pile" just like the ones I have, and all the plastic kits as well. You can't go wrong by buying from Modelhaus Michael, as I would in a heartbeat. Great products and service too. BTW, I do have the Modelhaus '60 Olds convertible in my "stash" also.
MrObsessive Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Check here if you want to see more of Modelhaus's items. You can't go wrong with Don and Carol as they're one of the best in the biz. I've ordered from them as well in the past, and I can vouch for their excellent service!
10thumbs Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Thanks guys for the supporting info. They do have some cool looking models. Michael
Snake45 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Modelhaus makes excellent stuff, and their prices are pretty reasonable. I'd caution ordering from them 4-6 weeks ahead of your anticipated need as they can sometimes take this long to get your stuff to you. But you WILL get it, and it WILL be good stuff. I've even heard that they've improved their delivery time lately, but can't vouch for that yet. (I'll be placing an order with them sometime soon.)
'70 Grande Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 My most recent order was placed on Aug. 9, 2014, with parts in my mailbox on Sept 4; about 3-1/2 weeks. Excellent service and turnaround time!
av405 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I agree with Mark. I placed a large order with them back in July (two full kits and an assortment of parts) and they delivered in 3 weeks. When I have just ordered smaller parts, they delivered in about two weeks. Very, very fast and great people to deal with.
Snake45 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 3 to 3.5 weeks isn't "fast" service anymore. I deal with several suppliers who have their stuff to me in under 7 days. In some cases, WELL under. It's not horrible, but I don't consider it "fast." But it's predictable and can therefore be taken into account.

You've got to understand that Modelhaus usually doesn't have an inventory of their stuff already made. They cast each order's items as the orders arrive, so it may take awhile depending on the amount of orders they have at the time and also if the parts ordered have to be sent out for chroming, then go back to them for packing and shipping.
av405 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 What Rich said. I also consider it fast given the fact that I always heard that Modelhaus delivered in about 6 weeks. Even they advise this length of time so 3 weeks is fast by their standards.
10thumbs Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 I understand that smaller type business folks can't have a large inventory. No problem. When I order stuff from US shops, usually about 2 weeks before it gets to my door here in Germany. Then Customs, another week and another 19%, then I can finally open up and do a looky. I ordered yesterday from ModelRoundup a small item, $13. Shipping total was then $39, then the Customs here another 19%. So, I thought well order some more small stuff, the total shipping only jumped $3. Sounds like a deal. But still way too much for shipping. Really, the stuff fits in a small air pocket envelope! But on the other hand, I can get a new Audi real cheap over here. Life is great. Michael
dimaxion Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Check the Catalog Mike , things change . I am familiar with the products offered by Don & Carol . A HT & Convertible yes for sure . The 4 Dr is not , the Ht is a two door . The only constant in life is .. change . Thanx ..
10thumbs Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 John, do you mean the 4dr. is without chassis? Please clarify. Michael
MrObsessive Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Mike here is the link for all of the Olds kits that Modelhaus offers. He doesn't list a '60 4 door hardtop (I want one!), but if you click on the description for the '59, you'll see all that it offers.

Perfectly understandable, and I have NO problem with that. I take it into account when I order from them--I don't wait to order until I need something from them "next week" and count on it getting to me by then. I just like to make others aware that Modelhaus orders take longer getting to you than you might be used to from other suppliers.
1972coronet Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) I've only ordered reproduction parts from Modelhaus (1972 Road Runner bumpers / tail lights / grille) , but I can vouch for the excellence of the parts ! Their service is definitely "old school" , in every capacity of the term (and I mean that sentiment in the complimentery way !) , so one's order is going to take 3-5 weeks . Well worth the wait ! The best thing about reproduction chromed parts ? No runner tabs to file / touchup ! Edited September 12, 2014 by 1972coronet
Bob Ellis Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Most of the frames from Modelhaus are promo type frames if you are doing motorless curbside. I know some of the bodies can be bought ala carte, meaning body only not a complete kit. But you probably need the whole lot of parts to finish.
Bob Ellis Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 MrObsessive, your fotki is great. I have looked at it a few times myself in the past (if it is the same one?). Modelhaus won't post photos, but your link is good enough to answer questions about how the parts / kits look.
sak Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 They dont post any pics of the contents. I cant see anything anyway. I wish also they listed measurements of the wheels and tires so you know what your getting.
Bob Ellis Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 sak, a previous poster has a Fotki link and there are lots of photos. I think it will satisfy your curiousity. I believe the tire photos are there too.

Yeah Bob, the link I posted is my go-to place when I want to see something I'm interested in that The Modelhaus offers. Don once told me that it would be nigh impossible to post a pic of everything he offers.........and they have a LOT of stuff! You can always call them in person as they're happy to answer any question you have. As I said before, I've never had even the slightest problem with anything I've bought from them. Edit: Ok, I've run across another link to Modelhaus items. It's a Fotki page, so if you click here, it'll take ya right to it. Edited September 12, 2014 by MrObsessive
sak Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 sak, a previous poster has a Fotki link and there are lots of photos. I think it will satisfy your curiousity. I believe the tire photos are there too. It was of some help thank you but..still hard to tell. I've been searching for redline tires for some time now and they appear to have four different types.. I suppose I can modify a chosen wheel to accept them..but what are the widths? I like to use slightly wider tires on the back...like say..a 275-60-15. Another example..they have a whitewall tire called a "1959 amt" and appears quite similar in size to their "nascar" wheels. Just saying..be nice to have a measurement of width and outside diameter. It would take all of ten minutes to do it.
