SMBC Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Polar Lights chassis, and Comp Resin body. Slixx decals. Love these old funny cars. Wish they made some more new tools of these cars.
10thumbs Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 That's a very nice looking model. Are the tires/wheels Polar Lights? I like. Michael
Nitrozilla Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Great looking ride Chris. Certainly up to your normal standards of awesome, rarefied subjects. Didn't realize Worthington Dodge was a sponsor. "I'm Cal Worthington and I'll eat a bug to sell you a car." Saying that while riding an elephant thru the car lot.
nitro norman Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Very Nice ! It's not easy to get those Polar Lights bodies to sit right on the chassis. You got it right. Good job.
gtx6970 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 One of my favortie cars,,got one painted and thats as far as I got. Never seen it in the Worthington Dodge livery though. But then again finding pics of this car back in the day are not easy.
Chris in Berwyn Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Very nice! Great paint! Just curious why you used a Comp Resins body?
Nitrozilla Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Very nice! Great paint! Just curious why you used a Comp Resins body? I can think of at least one reason. No roof hatch grooves on the left side to putty up. When I built the Hawaiian as a Jungle Jim car, I did that plus cut out a new, centered hatch. I like the rear spoiler better too.
SMBC Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 I had the body around and wanted to work it.
Old Coyote Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Gorgeous build sir ............ I like the Comp Resins body better than the kit body .............. looks better than my attempt
gtx6970 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) I didn't think the Comp Resin body is a mini charger like the LA Hooker car was ? EDit, Just found some more pics of the car. it seems there may have been different chargers . In my pictures I believe there was both a full size bodied car ( the ex Nelson Carter Chief ) AND a mini body Charger. Both piloted by Dave Conduit ( whom recently passed away ) to the op, my apologies for the hijak Regardless the build looks fantastic . makes me want to finish the one I started nearly 2 years ago Edited November 9, 2014 by gtx6970
Burnout Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Great looking model. I was fortunate to see this team race on several occasions beginning around '69. I think somewhere I may even have some photos I took of some of the later versions of the Hooker. One of my all-time favorites! Thanks for the memories.
nitro norman Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I have some pics of the real car in my files that I thought I would share.
Ira Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Great Build! Real Nice Paint, Decals & Detailing...
