Tesla Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) I built this gravel trailer to go with my DR. The 2 hole wheels are from Double Take Replicas (KJ Humphreys). Thanks for looking! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Edited June 29, 2017 by Tesla
Petetrucker07 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Very nice work. Looks great. Awesome job on the tarp system
KJ790 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 That looks great Dennis! What did you use for the tarp?
angelo7 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) The real gravel detail is outstanding as is the whole truck and trailer. Is it all gravel to the bottom? Or did you use a "false" bottom? I wanted to do this on my trailer but I was afraid that if I fill it up with gravel it would be too heavy on the plastic. I also thought of about mixing the gravel with glue and put a false floor so I would not need a lot of gravel but never got around to do it. Edited November 8, 2014 by angelo7
towman1271 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Great looking-Hard working combo... They were meant to be together!
Tesla Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Thanks everyone. KJ, for the tarp material I used tulle. I purchased it at Michaels. Here's a link:http://www.michaels.com/celebrate-it-occasions-tulle-fabric/M10249540.html?dwvar_M10249540_color=Lavender#q=tulle&start=1 Angelo I used cat litter for the gravel and no false bottom. After the pics I emptied the trailer. I might make a false bottom for a permanent display.
tbill Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Dennis, you knocked it out of the park again! terrific looking build, well done sir!
rctruk Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 That makes a great looking combination. Excellent job!
Jim B Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Great looking combination. Gravel trailer looks right at home behind the DR.
Brinx Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Very nice Dennis! The builds are fantastic. I especially like your study of old (restored?) meets new (modern). Quite well executed.
kilrathy10 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) One day I'm gonna get one of these things built, again.....Beautiful job.....The details you've added to this thing look great.....You, totally, pulled it off.....AGAIN.....Just masterful.... And, I use kitty litter in my dump bodies, as well....It's amazing the different textures different types of litter there are....The cheaper, the better....The cheaper ones resemble gravel and dirt more than the more expensive versions.....Good call....
