For good modern music you have to look for it these days but it is out there. Here's one artist I like, nice 60's sound to this.

Very reminiscent of NEU! "Hallogallo" Nice ?

and here's the king of the Hammond organ, Lee Michaels. The organ doesn't feature here so much on his later stuff but still a good album. Man, what a voice!

And I somehow missed this artist. Thanx Gareth.?

Yes, almost identical to Hallogallo! I think it's got to the point in music that no matter what tune an artist comes up with it's going to sound like something that has already been done.

Enjoy:) He and Frosty (the drummer) opened for Led Zeppelin in the 70's and they blew the crowd away, they were calling them to come back on during the concert apparently.

Lee Michaels' "You Know What I Mean" was a hit on heavy rotation on radio when I was in high school (and I liked it a lot). I know it's from his album 5th, which was of course his fifth album. The amazing thing is, to this this day, I've never heard another single song by or from him!

Speaking of the Hammond B3:

(StyreneSurfer, I know you're a Warren Zevon fan, so you'll like this story. B))

Zevon would sometimes hire a relatively unknown band to back him for a concert tour. In 1992 he used Odds out of Vancouver, BC. In '95 he traveled with Something Happens, an Irish band that had a Hammond Organ. It was an excellent tour, but the cool thing was, his signature tune, "Werewolves of London," when done featuring Hammond organ, sounds amazingly like it should have been a Three Dog Night song!

(I tried to find it on U2be but couldn't.)

I was looking at some old 1970's inner sleeves at a used record store.

Does anyone remember those?

Seeing all the artists/albumbs that where on the same label

some of them where really out there and could be never be

Found in my record shops as a youth.??

found most of them on the reissued CD or Bootleg ?

Yeah, he kind of give up around the mid 70's. It's a shame, he could have been huge but it just didn't happen. I know his hearing was suffering as result of his concerts."You know what I mean" is great tune! "Didn't know what I had" is one I hear on the old radio airchecks a lot, WABC liked to play his songs quite often.

I looked around, that would be fun to see if it was documented.

If I could figure out how to change my profile settings here

my name would have been STYRENE-SURF a fictitious surf song

title that me and my mates came up with long ago.

Spell check kinda ruined that and is history ?‍♂️

Now for a sig? is that what it's called?

"Enjoy the sandwiches."

Ah, you are quite right. It's been awhile.

I'll drop you an email when I get back to my desktop.

Using this tablet has its quirks, but I can watch "For a few dollars more" at the same time LOL

I checked out Porcupine. Some of it's heavy, not really my thing, but then a lot of their work has a very similar sound to Crowded House.

I don't hear Crowded House at all, but you did send me into a fun but short dive into their music??

Lol, I often compare a song to another and that's the usual response I get, "Sounds nothing like it" xD

Just discovered the New Zealand band Devilskin, thanks to the the John B. Wells Ark Midnight radio program. They remind me a lot of somebody, but I can't put my finger on who. Help me out here.....

I'm hearing a little Evanescence in there. Maybe some Nightwish.

On a somewhat related note, have a listen to some Arch Enemy. Try and picture the singer in your mind.  Then go watch a video. Not what I was expecting for sure. Anyway, I listen to them a fair bit.

I hear Evanescence in there, too. Never heard of Nightwish. But also somebody else.

I found this version of "Willie the Weeper/Willie the Chimney Sweeper" by Ernest Rodgers, recorded in 1927. Listening to his vocals and guitar playing, it's hard to believe this recording is almost 100 years old. "Willie the Weeper" is an old vaudeville song written in 1904. It tells the story of Willie, a dope addict, and his drug-fueled dream. Considering that the song was written 116 years ago, this is a pretty graphic song about drug addiction.
