chunkypeanutbutter Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) I see you already know that that kit, though it's labeled as 1/32, is actually about 1/26 or so...if you measure the wingspan and divide it out. Only the little pilot figure is 1/32.The only reason I picked this kit was because it was 1/26 scale! I wanted something quite close to the car scales I build. As for the figure, he's going to be a kind of "elf-on-a-shelf" around the house. I'm going to paint a Hawaiian shirt on him, make a big-brimmed hat to put on him, and just shift him around every once in a while. Right now, he's sitting on a branch of a fig tree inside. Agent G Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I'm taking a break from North African panzers and Shermans. This will be marked as a Battalion surgeons vehicle at the battle of Kursk. I found the unique markings in a set and just had to build it. G
mustang1989 Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 What's the idea behind the "Smart kit" there Wayne? Looks like a killer kit I'll tell you that!
Agent G Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 The best I can tell "smart kits" build only one version. They are still exceptionally detailed but not "over the top" like the super kits. G
oldnslow Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Scored at the flea market today. 6 Trumpeter aircraft kits, factory sealed, 2 1/32, a F4F-4 and a Me 262 A-1a, 4 1/24, a Bf 109 G2, 2 FW 190 D9s and a A6M2-N Rufe float plane.
oldnslow Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I'm not a plane guy, bought them to flip on e-bay, if anyone is interested pm me.
mustang1989 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) I was on my way up to San Antonio this last week and there just happened to be a hobby shop on the way , so............... among other things I got this to replace a couple of overtrees in my Royal Class Boxing of this kit: While some folks would argue that this kit is a pain in tha to build, I would argue that if you want to build an Fw190 "opened up" right out of the box , then one of these kits are some of the best on the market for that. All buttoned up................is another story. Edited June 22, 2015 by mustang1989

All are decent, with the Me 262 being excellent. I'd be real interested in the Rufe, but unfortunately don't have the cash at the moment. It's far from perfect, but with just a little work, can be turned into an excellent looking model.

mustang1989 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Yes. Is there another? No but I've got some info you'll need while you're tackling that bad boy. Picked one of these up. Cool score!!

chunkypeanutbutter Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) Got a couple boat kits: the Revell Jacques Cousteau Calypso from '76, and the USS Olympia from '74. Both are complete in the boxes with nothing missing at all. Anyone interested in these? I'd like to trade for cars, but if nobody's interested, I may keep them. I'd love the Olympia, but have nothing to offer in return.
Roadrunner Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 A BIG one Very nice. Glenn (from Kittyhawk), is a member here, and this may just be one of their best efforts to date, from what I hear. and one of these Also very nice. Is this a rehash of another kit, as are most of the Encore boxings? I have the 1:48 F-102 (Monogram kit), but it's very nice, all things considered.
Roadrunner Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Not today, but a few days ago I received this in the mail for a review I'm doing elsewhere. To say this kit is stunning, is a major understatement. Edited August 31, 2015 by Roadrunner
Greg Myers Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) I really like the clear kits, got a bunch. Really disappointed when they re released the Petty Charger 1/16th without the clear body. Edited September 1, 2015 by Greg Myers
Greg Myers Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Didn't mean to overlook this one there Tom. That sir , is priceless!! In more ways than one.
