MustangGuy23 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Maybe Joel will finish that one up.. some.. decade... -MJS That site was last updated in 2007. I've been to the museum he refers to since then and they have a completed model on display. I'm guessing it's this one.
randx0 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 the description says there will be a resin kit eventually .
w451973 Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Only a 165.00 $ starting bid. And it sold. Looks like the seller is a member here, Rob. On another note. I was able to find a little more info here once I spelled it correctly. Futurliner. DUH. LOL.
Casey Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I think someone else was working on one here recently , they were going to render it in 3d printing then cast in resin but it sounded very cost prohibitive . Robert Burns: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=92000
von Zipper Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I saw that the Ron Pratt Futurliner sold for 4 million dollars this weekend at the Barrett Jackson auction . # 10 the one in the Hemmings story is the one I sat in this summer. Futurliner #10 used to sit at a Cadillac dealership near where I grew up at in Detroit. It sat in the used car lot on the corner of Grand River and Winston-I must have went past it thousands of times growing up. It was my Dad that told me what it as and what they were used for. Of course #10 has been restored and now lives at NATMUS Museum in Auburn Indiana .
1930fordpickup Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 It was on tour at the Hydro Matic Park and Shine car show in Toledo late this summer. Great show BTW.
rctruk Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I just saw on CNN. The one at the Barret Jackson auction went for four million...wow
mrindy77 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I seem to recall Pratte bought the Futureliner about 8-9 years ago at BJ auction. I think it went for 4.2 million at that time. I also understand he a had more work done on it. I could be wrong but I don't think he came out ahead on this one after sellers fees.
randx0 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Ron Pratt donated the futurliner for charity , so no sellers fees just a lot of veterans being helped .
ChrisBcritter Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) I imagine he did some work on it - I was there last time it sold and took some photos. Check out this huge crack in the upper left rear; it starts at the trim line, runs down and comes back up to the trim line again. Must be a stress point in the body: Most amusing part for me was the winner was a phone bidder, thereby denying the viewers of what would have been a massive show of fawning over the buyer and telling him how wonderful he was. Showmanship abhors an anticlimax. So they fawned best they could over the next highest bidder! Edited January 22, 2015 by ChrisBcritter

gtx6970 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Only a 165.00 $ starting bid. If I had seen it first ,,,, I may have bought it http://www.ebay.com/itm/Futurliner-test-shot-resin-casting-starter-kit-1-24-Motorama-Concept-Bus-/281505732656?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item418b0c9830&nma=true&si=FwP94Wl5ldxHZPcFHYoNKJawz34%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&fol=185330b07c417bdad1f1df4c397c6d0ce7f5ec59a661575eab577ef4967a849d&pwid=modelerrob
Len Woodruff Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Interesting. Looks like the one that was posted on this board awhile back.
1930fordpickup Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 http://www.bing.com/...lectedIndex=164 The Michigan State Police used them also.
