mustang1989 Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Thanks Tim and Jim! I did get some sleep last night. I already feel better! Not a whole lot of progress this morning. I got the windshield moldings and the R/H side drip rail moldings applied. We're gettin' there................
taaron76 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Joe your making great progress my friend. Get ya some rest.. I know how it goes, I sometimes loose track of time working on my projects and end up with a short night's sleep making for a tired and worn out me, the following day lol. I lose track of time, usually on a Friday night or Saturday morning. I know I've been at it a while when my wife comes down to let me know its 2:00 a.m. lol Joe - After the BMF, what left do you have to do to put it "Under Glass"?
Mopar - D Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Joe your BMF is coming along nice and smooth with clean lines. Going to be a real sharp looking Challenger. Glad to see you are healthly again.
afx Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Looking good Joe. The blacked out cowl is sharp.
johnbuzzed Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 That is looking nice. Should be a stunner when it's finished.
slusher Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Nice foil work Joe. Glad you got some rest..
mustang1989 Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Joe - After the BMF, what left do you have to do to put it "Under Glass"? That's a big question. Lets see..........I need to: 1. Finish the BMF and all side marker light painting and door handles 2. Refurbish the original grill and front valance. 3. Replace the tail light assy and rear valance 4. Install mirrors-I'll most likely pin these. 5. Paint the clear plastic window sparring to match the black headlining. I very much dislike the sparred window assy. It looks cheap and takes away from the interior finish. 6. BMF the molded in w/s wipers on the clear plastic window as well as BMF the inside rear view mirror glass, 7. Install the exhaust 8. Install the radiator 9. Install the engine/ xmsn assy and run the wires to the firewall.(to the ballast resistor and w/s wiper motor) 10. Install the voltage regulator to the firewall 11. Install all coolant hoses, i.e. radiator and heater hoses. 12. Install the master cylinder and route the brake lines into a recess in the frame leading into "never never" land. 13. Paint and install the hood to include BMF on the leading edge of the hood. 14.Install the horn and route the electrical ckts into the engine harness 15. Clean up and detail out the original fuel door and install 16. Stretch a section of sprue and use it for a radio antenna 17. Paint and install rear spoiler 18. and polish out some minor blemishes on the body. There...I think I covered it all. Dan:Thank you sir! I hope it turns out ok after all of this! lol JC , John and Carl:Thanks for the encouragement bud! Everybody: I applied the BMF to the drivers side trim/ drip rail. This side was not cooperating at all but I made it through it after about an hour. Still have the rear window trim, side marker light trim and door handles to go. Mopar - D Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Joe you are now going to have to provide us a daily status update on each of your remaining punch list items. Lol!

freakshow12 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I've got something for you on the window assembly, a trick I've done a couple times. What I did here was cut styrene to fit in all the holes of the glass setup. Glue it all in and smooth it out, then I used masking tape and overlapped it where the top bows are. I just used pictures of the 1:1. I added the courtesy lights and visors.
mustang1989 Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 Thanks for the tip Fred! Took me a minute to look at it all and figure it out but I've got it!
mustang1989 Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Well I've gotten the back window trim and the drivers side door handle done this morning. Nest up are the passengers side door handle and all the side marker light BMF and painting.............
mustang1989 Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Thanks Dan! Hoping to hit the bench again today and still get all the "honey do's" done! lol
ProStreetOnTheStrip Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I just stumbled across this, I love it! I love rebuilds!
mustang1989 Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Thanks Don! I'm hitting the BMF on the body again this morning covering all of the side marker lights and the passengers side door handle. I'm not gonna bother with pics yet until I've got some more progress to report. With any luck I'll have the exterior done soon.
taaron76 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Coming along great, Joe. You are seriously making me want to start a Challenger or a Charger for my next build. Good stuff and I can't wait to see this one finished!!! Tim
mustang1989 Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Thanks Lee and Tim! Go for it Tim!
mustang1989 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 I got the rear side markers painted today after applying the BMF to it and I bought some Turn Signal Amber paint today for the front two markers which I'll paint tomorrow morning. Just a couple of pics for today so I can show at least some progress today. and the front with the original front clip dry fitted into place. Front marker light has the BMF laid down and I'll be painting the amber over the BMF at the lens area in the morning.
taaron76 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Look good, Joe! Is there an actual lens on that turn signal, or are you just applying amber over it? Tim
