Jurva Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) This is a project that has been looming in my mind. Finally started this. I wanted to learn new weathering trick. So far I have used MIG's rust color, chipping fluid and resedagrun. Edited January 5, 2015 by Jurva
Jurva Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 Engine will be twinturbo compound engine.
Chuck Most Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I love it! Where did you get the tracks?
Edward Gore Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Good kit-mash idea, Jurva I'll following this
Jurva Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 (edited) Tracks are from Panzer IV. Engine is now finished. Before and after weathering. Edited December 10, 2014 by Jurva
Jurva Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) I added rust pigments and washes to body, and then added mud. Now I am thinking what kind of controls this vehicle should have. Edited December 21, 2014 by Jurva
Jurva Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Twin sticks might be the way to go. What else is needed besides those? Two/three pedals and gear shifter? Here is something that I was wondering for the bed. Seats for two friends and a machine gun. I also added twin batteries. Have to build tool box too.
Chuck Most Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Here are a few interior shots of a Nodwell Flextrack with a Dodge cab- it has twin sticks.
Belugawrx Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Cool like the 50 cal. Diggin' the trax Two friends? ok, you get the engine end of the bench....lol Looking great Cheers
Jurva Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 Here is some stuff to go into the vehicle. I used Replicas and Miniatures resin guns and tools, Italeri Toyota Land Cruiser gave the 50 cal machine gun and some old gas cans and batteries.
BirdWatcher Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Cool project!Love the beat up looking grill.
spotarama Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 i'm doing a similar one myself, using the hull, wheels and tracks from a chinese rocket launcher, cab, engine and 5th wheel from some bigrig (looking at the pics it seems to be a Diamond Reo), detailed the drivers seat, full communications gear in the cab, plumbed the engine, hydraulic winch on the front etc it will either be painted in 'international emergency' orange or army green it's still a LONG way off finished but one day......
Jurva Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 Thanks for sharing your pictures. I think we have same engines. I'm curious about your setup for controlling the vehicle. Would it be easier to steer the vehicle when the twin sticks were in front of the driver seat?
Jurva Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Here is scratchbuild controls for the Dodge. Also tried weathering the interior. What do you think?
spotarama Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Thanks for sharing your pictures. I think we have same engines. I'm curious about your setup for controlling the vehicle. Would it be easier to steer the vehicle when the twin sticks were in front of the driver seat?they're from out of the orig truck kit, going to call them the parking brakes.i'm sort of planning to use a sort of joystick/control column coming out of the dash, sort of like a light plane controlits changed a fair bit since the project started, it was orig going to be a tracked towtruck with the cab from a pickup and ski steering at the front with a small block chev under a normal hood
Jurva Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) I declare this one finished. It has been fun project. It gave me opporturnity to try new weathering tricks. I didn't use the machine gun. I think this will be some sort of hunting mobile. Rain flap was built from beer can and some jewelry parts. Also the chain in the front is jewelry chain, which is blackened with burnishing fluid. Edited January 5, 2015 by Jurva
kilrathy10 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 That is one cool build, Man......Great weathering and imagination......
guitarsam326 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 This thing is too cool! What did you use for the mesh around the exhaust stack?
Tesla Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 This came out great...the details and weathering are perfect!
