Relic_Models Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Now that is fine... Agreed, but even more interested to know what that olive drab 'thing' is on that low boy. Looks like it could be a Snow Cat or a HMTT-type truck.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 Agreed, but even more interested to know what that olive drab 'thing' is on that low boy. Looks like it could be a Snow Cat or a HMTT-type truck. It was military. This truck and the one next to it had the same thing on.
Jim B Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 You sure do see a lot of interesting trucks in Southern California, Clayton.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 That old jeep is owned by a local. The trucks I seen at the truck stop. There are a few old International pickups scattered over the area too. I try to take pics when I can.
Mackvision Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Not a "KW Man" by any means, but that A-Model is SHARP! as a young driver,i had the opportunity to drive an A-Model early on in my career, 3408 Cat,14 speed spicer trans.,right around 750 horse to the drives, only big truck I ever drove with a 120 MPH speedometer in it!.....................................Mark
Old Buckaroo Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Clayton - I really like that KW - It just screams to be modeled ! Mark - nice pic, is that you ?
Mackvision Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Sean, that is indeed me! just a younger, less gray haired version! that truck was a MONSTER! even at the time,i think I was 23/24? I deemed it "too much truck" for me! Lol!......................................Mark
anarximis Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Those forklifts are kinda ugly I think but I'd probably do something similar if I had one so I'm not one to talk. HAH. That old Chevy though, beautiful. think of them more like tractors that have forks on the back
1959scudetto Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 First seeing this I thought this was from JT's workbench. That were exactly my thoughts, too...
1959scudetto Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Here are some Austrian truck oldies from the early 50's to the early '70s: Steyr 586, 380 and 780, ÖAF Tornado and 2 Saurer Diesels.
kilrathy10 Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Those are some pretty cool looking trucks, Clayton......Just love that custom Pete 389....That thing is AWESOME !!!!!! You've got some pretty good looking old units posted, as well, Helmut....
Chuck Most Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I wonder if you could put a modified van body on a Unimog Chassis? I see another proejct coming!!! Be Well Gator If somebody doesn't do it, I will.
Chuck Most Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 This slightly shabby but well maintained Valueliner was out and doing its thing yesterday Also...
Guest Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 This slightly shabby but well maintained Valueliner was out and doing its thing yesterday Makes me wish I had an R model Mack kit in the house...
landman Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 In a hotel parking lot, a serious lowboy. I wonder what the capacity of that is. 200t? This truck is pretty well the only one which can negotiaite the local streets without damage. A nice old Jeep. And finally, my own rig. 2005 Raleigh, 28 in. wheels, 21 speeds, one geezer power. And the rating varies with what the geezer had for breakfast.
fantacmet Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) This was sitting in the parking lot of CARLS JR next to the motel I'm in for CDL training. On the battery box it says Atlas Van Lines. Edited June 24, 2015 by fantacmet
Petetrucker07 Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) You off 51st if I'm not mistaken. If you get some extra time and way to go. The Dannys Truck Resort is on 67th across from the Flying J. It's a truck wash, chrome shop, polisher, cb shop, vinyl shop, and restaurant, all in one place. I've spent hours at that place, and a lot money. Edited July 1, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Relic_Models Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Saw a Freightliner FLD, only a two axle, with six open-sided ballest containers partially loaded. Ballast as best as I could tell was 1000-something(didn't see lb. or kg.) cast metal units. No draw bar, signage or supporting/ associated trucks around. I was driving to work so no photo though. Hugely disappointed considering it's such an odd set up.
fantacmet Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Dead on, 51st just about a block off I10. I was right there at Travelers Inn. Price was right. Room 121, right up front. Shade in the later part of the day. That helped.
Petetrucker07 Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 I've stayed at that hotel in the past. It was nice. There used to be a place we loaded at down the road aways on the Salt River where we loaded rock. But it was sold and closed.
Petetrucker07 Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 Here are couple more antiques from work.
landman Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Those are real nice Clayton. Belong to the boss or you?
