Very nicely done, and that's an authentic color too. I was just researching '69 Pontiac colors yesterday.

There was a question about this kit on here last week. Made me dig one out and look at it. It's not perfect but it's better than I'd remembered. It's definitely better than their '69 Camaro. I'm thinking of building the thing, as soon as I can decide on a color.

You did a nice job with it.

ETA: Forgot to mention, nice job on the black between the front bumper and the body--good little detail on this car.

That's the hood that originally came in the kit. In the first issue it was molded in clear. I think maybe in some later issues they gave you only the TA type hood but I think at least some had the 400 hood as well. Modelhaus repops it if your kit doesn't have it.

Nice job. I didn't realize there was a fit issue with the grille. I never built my copy, traded it years ago.

I had a lot of fun building kit. Very simple to build. I had no issues except for the spoiler. It did not form right and would not follow the contour of the trunk. I agree that the grille is too chunky. Two hoods came in the kit. The 400 and the T/A .Include was the OHC 6 but no stock hood. I have the MPC Firebird 400.also with the OHC 6. Maybe a Pontiac OHC V12?

Somebody makes a non-scooped hood for this kit, but you can also get there by filing and sanding the scoops off. That's what I did on my original annual (which I never finished). Now wish I hadn't as that was the original clear plastic hood. Looking at that kit (still in its original box) the other night, I found that hood and a resin repop of the scooped hood that I must have picked up somewhere along the line. I think when I build it, I'll paint both hoods, scooped and plain, and swap them out as the mood strikes me. (Thinking of using the OHC 6 engine just 'cause it's different and the MPC Pontiac V8 isn't really all that great.)

The front end of this body is almost as wide as the front end of the Revell '69 Camaro. I found that amazing, as the front end of the MPC '69 Camaro is WAY narrower than the Revell. Maybe MPC took more care converting the '68 Firebird molds to '69 than they did the '68 Camaro, as they still had the Pontiac promo contract in '69 but lost the Chevy promo deal back to AMT that year.

At any rate, I'm getting interested in finishing this model up, after all these years, and seeing your build has been very inspirational to me.
