Mopar - D Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 Thanks Jesse, looking to get some more progress this week end. I've got the cab preped for the coat of white paint. The trailer is getting close to being ready for its coat of red to. They are saying that we may get to see the sun this week end.
Mopar - D Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 It was a good morning for painting. Sprayed the cab white and cleaned off BMF Dodge letters afterwards before the paint was to hard. Also painted the front bumper chrome and the rear mud flap with misc parts red.
72 Charger Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 looking great Dan are you going to stripe the cab ?
Mopar - D Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 Thanks Terry by chance are you going to the Lake Charles model show next Sat.? Dave thanks and yes the white is the stripe I will be ain't got the rest of the cab red. From the pictures of these cabs they either had a white or red roof sections. I'm not sure yet witch way I'm going to go yet. Ok JT a and Chris you convinced me to change out the ladders to match the trailer. Working on them now. I've also noticed that on the trailer that the frame joints have gusset plates on them so Im going add gusset plates on the new joints that I added.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 This looks really good. Cant wait to see it done and loaded
Old Buckaroo Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 This is a super project to follow. I really like these old Dodge's , I have only seen a few in real life. On cleaning off the BMF after painting , did you just use a Q-tip with a touch of thinner to clean off the paint ?
Mopar - D Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 Sean I use a tooth pick soaked in lacquar thinner to remove the paint. A q-tip is to big.
olsbooks Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Excellent looking. I had never considered the q tip/lacquer thinner trick. Obviously it works and goes in the bag of tricks. Thanks for sharing. Peace.
Mopar - D Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Was able to get a little time on the bench tonight. Built the ladder on the passenger side and started adding the gussets on the trailer.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 This is gonna be an eye catcher with that red. Nice job so far.
Mopar - D Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Thanks Clayton and JT. Got up before church today and finished up the gussets on the trailer and the tail lights in place on the mud flaps. Going to work on the other ladder.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Lookin good man. Cant wait to see the trailer painted.
Mopar - D Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Clayton if things go good maybe next weekend for the red on the trailer and the cab.
olsbooks Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) This thing has gone WAY beyond this poor E1's pay grade. GREAT JOB! Edited January 18, 2015 by olsbooks

Mopar - D Posted January 19, 2015 Author Posted January 19, 2015 Thanks Jesse Joe it seams that every time I go to the bench I see or find something else that I can add to it. I think I'm getting close painting it.
