1972coronet Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 What kinds of foods are so utterly repulsive to you ? For me , Chinese food takes the cake ! Just outright disgusting , in every capacity : odour , texture , and flavour . To make it worse , my dad eats that [expletive deleted by author] no matter what hour of the day ; the most unfavourable time is when I'm trying to eat breakfast . Imagine : 0500 hours ; I'm eating oatmeal and drinking coffee ... ... then the atrocious plague of Soy Suace-drenched noodles and veggies perform a hostile takeover of my senses . Adding to that reprehensible encounter is the noises he creates while consuming that putrid food ; clanging utinsiles , sucking-food-from-teeth sounds , open-mouth chewing ... ARRRGGGGG !!! So , what food experiences are you bewildered by or angered by ?
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Sometimes, porkchops get a really doggy smell to them. If I come out into the kitchen and someone's frying porkchops, if it smells like that, I'm going to bed with no dinner. Never liked cauliflower. It's just weird.
1930fordpickup Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Peanut butter and Jelly. Tufo is not real food does it count?
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 What the point of this thread? Scott It's off-topic.... There is no real point. It's just... here. As I believe Harry once said, "If you don't like it, ignore it. Simple."

slusher Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Use to be a guy who like to microwave his sardines in the break room at work. Bad smell.

Tom Geiger Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) In my career as a facility manager for Fortune 100 companies, I've often been asked to referee in office food smell issues. I once had two ladies sharing an office and one of them would eat a banana in the office every morning. The other lady hated the smell of bananas! She complained that she was allergic and wanted me to get in the middle of it. My third sense said they just didn't like each other. I turned it back to her department head with a copy to human resources. Another one was microwave popcorn cooking in the office. I don't like this smell, it smells like feet to me. Someone left their popcorn in too long one time and it caught fire, setting off the alarms and sending everyone into the street in the cold rain. It was easy to ban microwave popcorn after that one! And we let the Safety Department take the hit for that one. The worst one was a group of Russian employees who brought in a huge pot of crayfish, that they heated in the cafeteria microwave. And then they sat at one of the big round tables in the middle of the room with this steaming pot! It made the entire building smell like low tide! Ugh! Yea, another one for HR to handle. LDO Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Back home, years ago... I worked at a place with a lot of Asian coworkers. They would all take their lunch break together and eat Asian food. Another coworker, Tom, was the type who enjoyed getting on people's nerves. He walked to the break area one day and said "What the h is that smell? It smells like someone is eating boiled dog s**t". I thought there was going to be a fist fight.
LDO Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Which reminds me any country in which dogs are eaten should be turned into a smoldering wasteland of radioactive glass. After the dogs are evacuated.

It's a good thing it was years ago. Today that would be called a "bias crime" and he'd be out the door pretty quick. At my prior company a guy was fired on the spot for telling someone to stop acting like a retard.
Chuck Most Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I'm bewildered and angered by people who post pictures of their meals on the internet, after ramming it through all kinds of filters and apps to make it look "artsy". Thus, my resolve to steer clear of Instagram.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 You don't need filters to make food look good!
Sixx Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 OK, my wife & I have been trying some different health food things...seen a lot of topics on fermented foods such as true sauerkraut... found out how to make it...which is basically shred cabbage, cram in jar with salt, fill with distilled water, leave it on counter top...for up to a month!!!!!!????????? First of all, I can't stand sauerkraut but for all the probiotics raw, natural kraut has, I'm trying it. We didn't do it right the first time, opened the jar...oh no...did we just fall into a raw sewage pool??!!! It smelled so bad....I almost puked right there in the kitchen!!!!!! Our next one was better, still a bit stinky....like kraut should, still don't like it :-/ Oh yeah...it stinks up the whole house!!!!
mnwildpunk Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 My mom every christmas with her sister made LudiFisk I swear you could smell it two blocks away

rmvw guy Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Funny, I am just now smelling how awful this Banquet chicken nugget meal smells that my grandson is eating. He loves them! I may have to hold my nose while I eat my pizza.
rmvw guy Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) When I was in Korea the God awful aroma of Kimshi filled the air always. Here in the States I would say Liver and Onions win. A guy I worked with once brought a crock pot to work full of liver and onions. The aroma made me want to leave work. The guys kept trying to get me to taste just a bite so, I finally agreed and regreated it for the next three days. Between the belching and the laxative effect it had on me I can honestly say this was the worst. Edited December 19, 2014 by rmvw guy
LDO Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Liver is disgusting, but I buy a ton of it. I boil chicken liver and grind it up to make gravy for my dog's food. That's all it's good for.
