B-Ram
Hi Guys, I'm looking for some 1:25 scale Bonneville salt flats dish type wheel covers or wheels for a future build. Does anyone make after market sets. Thanks, Bill
Toner283
Parts by Parks used to make several different sizes but I have heard that he is no longer making parts.
cobraman
I think I saw that someone here made a beautiful set using the rounded bottom of an aluminum soda pop can.

Casey
Parts by Parks used to make several different sizes but I have heard that he is no longer making parts. Parts by Parks' Moon disc style wheel covers can still be found on eBay, and the are the nicest I've yet to see. I would definitely recommend finding a set. Snake45
If the full wheel discs in the AMT Double Dragster would work for you, I'd be glad to send you a set.

jbwelda
parts by parks is out of business? I just bought some stuff from him this past summer so that's kind of odd. and the disk wheel covers are great, come in three sizes jb
LDO
Most soda cans these days have numbers and/or letters stamped into the bottom. No good for making salt flat discs.
B-Ram
I just checked out "Model Roundup" and they appear to have the Parts by Parks salt flats discs. Has anyone purchased from them. Bill
vypurr59
Model Round up is excellent to business with, I have ordered several times from them Edited December 21, 2014 by vypurr59
misterNNL
I just saw Ron Parks at the Toledo NNL and toy show in October and he had a full display of parts for sale at that time.
Crazy Ed
Depending on Diameter and exact style you're liikin' for there's a useable set in the AMT Avanti Kits, Except for the Reggie Jackson version.
Scott Colmer
Lee is right about the numbers on he bottom of the can. I found that some 7up cans are OK. (I have a pretty good collection of can bottoms saved up.) Or... If the numbers are embossed with the high side on the convex of the curve you can sand them flat. This is what I was able to do using a common drill as a lathe. They are mounted on an old stone bit using CA glue. To remove them use debonder. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Parks makes a great product if you want to skip the work. Making your own allows you the option of any size you want. B-Ram
Those are real nice. I'm not clear on how you do that. Could you show how you do it. Thanks, Bill
Scott Colmer
Hi Bill and Chris, I did an MCM article on making these some time ago. Let me check with Harry to see if it is OK to post a version in the How to section. I'll follow up soon. Scott
B-Ram
That would be great. Thanks. Bill
Scott Colmer
Hi Chris and Bill, I posted the how to in Tips and Tricks. I lost the files from the original article so I had to use the pics from my fotki site. A few less pics and more text than I wanted, but I think the process is pretty clear. Have fun and good luck.
