Hessel Hemstra Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Something I'n working on now. First a photo of the original. As base I'm using the reissued Mack DM800 by King models. The wheels were designed by me and 3D printed at Shapeways. The chassis is ready for paint. The front axle was shortened and fixed a little forward to make the bigger front wheels fit. The engine is the good old V8 Mack. there is more to come. Hessel
Superpeterbilt Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Very cool project. I have many pictures of the real truck. Those wheels look great. Are you having the rear wheels made as well? Keep up the good work
Hessel Hemstra Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 The first pic of the wheels are the rear ones. The second pic are the front. Photo's are always welcome all-tough I have many myself. They are from the internet.
guitarsam326 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Love the old Macks, can't wait to see the finished product!
Superpeterbilt Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 The first pic of the wheels are the rear ones. The second pic are the front. Photo's are always welcome all-tough I have many myself. They are from the internet. Awesome! I love models of the Heavy Haulers.
Mopar - D Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Great subject. Looking forward to see your progress. I have future plans to build one like this also. Do you have a load planned out yet to go behind it?
Hessel Hemstra Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 No plans for a load yet. There might be a detachable gooseneck trailer behind it.... but this one has to be ready first.
truckabilly Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Cool. Nice looking truck. I´ll be watching the progress gladly.
Tesla Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 I've always admired this truck and also have many pictures of it. Really looking forward to follow your progress!
kilrathy10 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Very ambitious project.....That's gonna be wild when you pull it off......Great shot of the 1:1....
Rigzndiesel Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Looking good so far. This is going be a nice build. You picked a cool subject to build a model of. Can't wait to see more... Jeff
Hessel Hemstra Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 With some days off I was able to do some work. The motor has been painted, gold off course and with some chroom parts left. Finishing touch still needs to be done. The wheels are painted and look OK. The chassis is ready for some paint but I could not resist to put it on the wheels to show you. I also altered the hood. In real the left and right bonnet can be opened separate so I changed that in the kit. Photo's..... That's it for now. I wish you all a good final chapter of this year and will get back to you in 2015. Thanks, Hessel
Superpeterbilt Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Excellent work man!! This is going to be a beast.
disabled modeler Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I like the old brute force look trucks!
Hessel Hemstra Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 I have worked out the mudguards and subframe. With that the catwalk is integrated. Parts and how things go together. First the mudguards. and then the catwalk. There is more to come... Hessel
