slusher Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Great work on the foil Rich. Color really pops with the foil...
bill_67 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 This looks fantastic, love the two tone color. Great job, Richard I can't wait to see more.
72 Charger Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 That looks great Rich . The foil realy does make all the difference .Keep at it
Sixx Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Wow Rich, that is looking so dang cool man!!!!!!! :-)
Ramfins59 Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 I thank you all for your very kind words. Last night I decided to add some extra little details to the side trim insert. First of all, I glued strips of brass mesh screen to the inside of the vent openings in the front fenders...... it's a little tough to see in the picture but you can make it out. Next, I've had a set or fret of photo-etched flames that I got from Detail Master some time ago (#DM-2405) that I've been itching to use on something. I used the 2 smallest pieces on the fret and stuck them on a piece of doubled over masking tape on a paper plate. First I sprayed them with primer and then gave them a couple of coats of Black Gold Ultra Orange Pearl and then a gloss clearcoat. They look red instead of Orange but still look good. I glued (using clear enamel paint) the smaller of the flame pieces to the front edge of the door trim behind the vents. The larger flame is glued to the rear quarter just in front of the taillights. Then I attached PE Street Machine scripts in front of the rear flames also using clear enamel paint. I was going to wait until the car was finished to show these details, but they came out looking so darn cool that I just had to share... ...... and the beat goes on. More progress to follow. Thanks for following along.
om617 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Wow looks great! Did you paint those tiny flames or are they decals? Very cool.
Ramfins59 Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 Thank you Tommy and Dennis. Tommy, I'm not being rude here, but, I fully explained how I did the tiny flames in my post # 134 above.
Joker Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Read all se7en pages of progress on your '56 Chrysler,Rich and I'm so glad it's going better than the Fleetliner did. Sorry I'm late to the party .
o-man Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Wow Richard, that looks very cool! Have you been able to tell if the wheels will fit without major modifications?
Ramfins59 Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 Thanks James and Oscar. James, Yeah, that '51 Fleetline was a real bear. Better late than never for any party. Oscar, no, I've actually been putting that off, but I'm not overly worried. Worst case scenario I'll have to narrow down the wheels & tires a bit on the inside edge using my razor saw.
MoparWoman Jamie Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I love watching your builds man, they are very beautiful and yet clean at the same time. You also always make the colors work as well. I love the detail you do on your projects. Keep up the great work!
peekay Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Looking amazing, Rich. Very fine work on the new trim - you'd think it came out of the box like that.
Mopar - D Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Richard those flames are so cool looking they are just enought
Tom Geiger Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I like the flames too. A good eye, you did just enough but not too much. Hope the wheels go well. I spent an entire morning getting the right combo of wheels / wheel back and tires on the Volare so they fit in the wells and it sat flat.
mustang1989 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Man Rich that paint job really got set off by that BMF! Looks great!
Ramfins59 Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 I thank you all so very much for your extremely kind and encouraging comments. I really appreciate it. Today I hope to finish assembling the interior pieces, installing the glass, and finish painting and detailing the engine compartment parts. The finish line is getting very close for this car. Thanks for looking in.
LDO Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I've been following this on my phone, with its tiny screen, but today is the first time I checked it out on my home computer...since page 1 or 2, anyway. Wow. Very impressive.
Ramfins59 Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 The interior assembly is now finished... The glass is also installed and paint is drying on the engine compartment parts. Further progress reports as they happen. Thanks for following along.
slusher Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Gorgeous interior Rich, very nice touch adding the flames. The color makes them stand out...
Mopar - D Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Rich nice interior it's going to look great with the exterior.
