JollySipper Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Hello, all... Been working on this lately! It's the Round2 release with all the custom goodies.... Going to be using the flat-head engine Any and all comments are welcome.......!
chunkypeanutbutter Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) You gonna use the funky grille, too? Edited December 24, 2014 by chunkypeanutbutter
JollySipper Posted December 24, 2014 Author Posted December 24, 2014 Not quite sure, Miles...... I'd like to use the stock grill, but I'm open to suggestions as there are three to choose from.....
FullPowerGarage Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Nice work, and I'd go stock grille!
espo Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Looks good so far. Back in the day a lot of guys would use a '56 Ford pick-up grill. You may or may not want the V8 emblem. The grill has a little bit of a "hood" over the head lamps. If you use the custom grill with the canted quad head lamps, you might try trimming and bending the front fenders to match.
kilrathy10 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) Good looking project....I'm sure you'll figure out what it is you want to do with it, soon.....I get a lot of inspiration on builds just driving around town....You might try a newer style tonneau cover with a spoiler, or something..... bpletcher55 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 looking forward to seeing how this go,s I,m also working on one and I,m going with a mild custom .
JollySipper Posted December 24, 2014 Author Posted December 24, 2014 Thanks for showing an interest, guys...... The only thing I am certain I want to do is paint it black, the rest will fall in place hopefully.....
JollySipper Posted December 25, 2014 Author Posted December 25, 2014 Here's the engine all finished... looks like the cross-over pipe slipped a little, I should probably fix that... Feel free to tell me what you think......!
Tom Geiger Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 about the stock grille... there were two grilles for Ford pickups in 1953. The kit grille is the high end one, which you don't see a lot in 1:1. The low end grille is more common and all you need to do is cut the 'bumps' off the cross bars and sand it smooth to make the standard grille. I had done that on mine.
James2 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I like almost every thing about, the wheel tire combo, the stance and I'm sure the grill choice will be cool no matter which one you use. I just can't get past the Chevy fenders! Ford fenders with custom lights would look much better.
JollySipper Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 Thanks for checking out my progress, Fellas! The Chevy fenders were needed to clear the width of the rear track once I lowered it......
Jantrix Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 How did you achieve the lowered stance? Did you throw the axles up on top of the leafs?
JollySipper Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 Yep, that's exactly what I did.....! Kind of a hack job, and I can't use the metal axle in the front, but the kit comes with plastic axles that I cut to long enough to hold the front tires in place.......
JollySipper Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 I was gonna show you how the paint turned out, but photobucket isn't working right now..... I went with a brown because I couldn't find a black like I wanted. It looks OK, maybe I can get pics up later!
JollySipper Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 I think I figured it out! Tell me what you guys think......
bpletcher55 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I like the color Tim . it,s custom with out SCREAMING look at me .
JollySipper Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 Thanks for looking in, guys! Unfortunately, Photobucket isn't cooperating with my computer, so I'm not able to show any progress right now..... Darn 12 year old Dell desktop..!
