Randy Kern Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Clay, we bought a new house 9 1/2 years ago, and I still have yet to make my workbench area in the basement (some day ). I do have my paint booth and dehydrator in the basement, but this is my set-up now, and I just relocated it to a nice sized spare bedroom over the garage. I sometimes build one-handed, as here my supervisor said I needed a break
dub Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 OK, here it is, as clean as it gets. I don't have a paint booth yet, so my solution is a bit on the questionable side. I found that my window at the top of my stairs has an out-draft (when open) 90% of the time. The window is about 3 paces from my "bench" so convenience is not an issue. When I do get a booth, it'll be that window that has the removable vent. I don't fail to see the irony of that same window used to be where I went to smoke when it was too cold outside, before I quit. (building model cars helped me quit) I also have recently replaced the mat with a larger one.

Tom Kren Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR HOUSE THIS IS THE FIRST HOME IMPROVEMENT I MADE IN THE BASEMENT! ROOM IS ABOUT 10X 19 AND IM RUNNING OUT OF ROOM!
Luis Ayala Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Well, I finally managed to get my spot almost done with the help of my wife and kids. I moved to a new house about a year ago and strugled with and endless remodeling. Before, I had no place but a small 2'X3' table but now I have plenty of space and everything is confined in the same room so, I hope to get organized for good. I have a 6' by 30" workbench where I do all the surgery and have enough room for a "photo boot". I have a 7-feet rack for the paints and suff, a couple of wall shelfs and a display for my models. Still need to organize a few things and add some artwork to the walls but is great to have a place for my stuff. The painting area will be outside the room under a steel stair for the second level where theres a patio and enough ventilation.
Clay Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 Ok now I'm not gonn believe that everyone cleans up their model area when they get up.
JasonW18 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 This is my workbench in my garage. This is where I work when its warm outside, but since I live in indiana and its been cold as $%^& lately, I've migrated everything to the basement. Here are some shots of my garage bench, I cant show you pics of the basement or my wife would kill me...
Clay Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 I cant show you pics of the basement or my wife would kill me... I completely understand.
Raul_Perez Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Got a new work area, Here it is Where's the A-1 Sauce?
Clay Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 Where's the A-1 Sauce? It might be on the kitchen table still, not sure though. Too lazy to turn around and look. And dont you have an Impala to finish?
Raul_Perez Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 It might be on the kitchen table still, not sure though. Too lazy to turn around and look. And dont you have an Impala to finish? Nag, nag, nag... Remember, it's a lot earlier over here on the left coast than it is where you are...
Clay Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 Nag, nag, nag... Remember, it's a lot earlier over here on the left coast than it is where you are... Yea yea yea, speaking of that, its bed time for us old folk, you should hit the hay to Raul, you dont want to stay up too late.
MrObsessive Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Here's my work area........I use the upstairs front bedroom for my building...............Yes, these are older pics-----it's a little messier right now! My "supervisor" Captain the clingy cat!
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 What's goin' on... My paint shop is the same as Billy's. Here's where I build (for the time being) There for a while I used to take a kit or two w/ me to work that I'd tinker w/ that during lunch. This project here brought that to a stop. I lost track of time and my 30 min lunch break turned into a 1:15 min D'OH!!!
Bainford Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I'll join in. Here's my work area. A rare neat moment between projects
j_nigrelli Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 maybe a little off topic ... but what's with the dehydrators??? i thought at first they were rice cookers until someone mentioned he had one, also. rice cooker i could understand, but a dehydrator? i'm not getting it ...

The food dehydrators are for drying paint faster. Mal-Wart has one for under $50 and really gets the job done! I even heat up my spray cans in it. Just make sure you keep the temperature at or below 105*. Any more and you risk melting bodies.
RodneyBad Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Well I have a hobby room, small but functional. Still working on organizing but started building anywho. Took forever to figure out where to put the PC Keyboard. It's mouted under the desk and it slides out.
Clay Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 I am gonna go and work on my garage, hopefully I will have some pictures of my work space.
evilone Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 i work in my room on a 6'x3' board and i paint in my patio i hang the body on a bent up hanger and when im done spraying i hang the hanger on a roll around cloths holder for drying
LVZ2881 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Here's a pic of my workspace.... It's an old metal desk in the corner of my bedroom.. my paint booth is of the "open air" type, made by the "back porch" brand..
