I work in a Production Engineering department of a Fortune 300 company. I do mostly Manufacturing Engineering work, despite not being TITLED as such. Duties include: Tool design, work instructions, bill of material maintenance, addressing vendor issues, discrepant material review and a variety of other sh** details.

I moonlight a few nights a week in a local machine shop mostly running CNC mills and lathes, at least I get a sense of accomplishment from that.

I'm a Heat Treat Specialist/Operator. I work at an aluminum foundry. We make alot of the aluminum suspension parts in most of the new cars that come off the line. In my position I make sure the parts are heat treated so that they are much much stronger than when we started with them. By the time we are done with them they are stronger than steel. Mageck

That actually looks quite artistic! I was a Certified "Master Tech" (Chrysler), Service Manager/Director (for a Chrysler and then an Oldsmobile/Cadillac dealership), then a Technical Service Training Instructor for Chrysler Corp. (Centerline, Michigan). Sadly, my career was cut short in 2003 when I became perm. disabled. At this point I stopped dealing with the 1.1 automotive world as a career and hobby (still have a few 1.1 show "toys")...and went back to the plastic model car world that I had left in 1974. This hobby has improved in many different ways since then. Plus, it's a lot more affordable. The 1.1 car hobby has become a (unfortunately) "rich man's" guilty pleasure. Fury3
That's funny Fury, i am the guy who dispatches your work!!! LOL!! i am a service writer at a Chevy dealer up here north of Spokane. I am also a parts dept. consultant, a lube tech, courtesy shuttle driver, parts runner, tech assistant, shop maintnence, onstar rep. I guess you can say i wear alot of hats around here.

Before I went back to school I worked for an interior designer for about 8 years and also worked for a few body shops doing detail/finish work while I was doing the designer assistant thing. Right now I'm a starving artist and a full time student/ Graphic Design major

I retired the first of July after 38 years as a metal patternmaker for the Ford Motor Company. I spent the final 12 years as a computer solid modeler and cutter path creator for our pattern shop. We made and maintained all the pattern and corebox equipment for the iron foundry in Cleveland, Ohio.
