taaron76 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Can you guys post a link to your favorite seat belt source? Thanks! Tim
cobraman Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Some guys use ribbon with PE hardware. I sometimes use painted masking tape.
Belugawrx Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 masking tape doubled up or I've heard dullcote on the sticky side to nuetralize I like using pop cans cut up for buckles
Tom Geiger Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I've used both painted masking tape and ribbon. I have just ordered a few rolls of 1/16" ribbon from eBay. I got a roll of black and a roll of white. You can then color the white to any color you need with a Sharpie. Ray is correct, you can neutralize masking tape glue with Dullcote. I would like a source for a photo etch sheet of just buckles... both male and female ends. Seat belt sets I have contain too much for harnesses and other buckles only come on car specific sets with scripts and such. Anyone?

LDO Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Lead foil. It will lay down like a scale representation of real seat belts. As for where to get it...not sure. A friend gave me some from wine bottles about 20 years ago. I'm not sure any wine or champagne still has lead foil on it. It's now aluminum foil coated with plastic.
Ramfins59 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Detail Master has this PE set for seat belt hardware for $5.99 and Model Car Garage has a PE set also for $6.50 Either one looks like they have enough pieces for several models.
Guest Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I use masking tape doubled over and MCG photo etch buckles. I've been wanting to try out some medical tape I have. I don't know how well it would accept paint though.

jacoballardtattoo Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I'm just stepping into the game on these kind of models but on my scale R/C rock crawler build I used leather lace. I'm not happy with the buckle choice I made (sowing latch and hook) but the lace works amazing for seat belts. I'm doing that build in 1/10th scale but I'm sure the lave could be trimmed to fit smaller scale projects. I may need to try it, if I do I will try and pay pics of it when done.
