landman Posted June 12, 2021 Author Posted June 12, 2021 (edited) The new workspace is taking shape. Putting the dios back together, bit by bit. Some repairs needed but not too many. Edited June 13, 2021 by landman
Anglia105E Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Looking good, Pat....... but you have quite a bit of work to do there. It's all quality time of course, and so satisfying ! David 1
landman Posted June 24, 2021 Author Posted June 24, 2021 Reinstalled the big Dyno. Decided to swap engines. A Detroit V12 replaced the twin turbo Cummins. And, the V12 Ardun will go on the other one. But first, I have to find some exhaust manifolds for it as well as wire and plumb it.
Anglia105E Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 You have some nice engines there, Pat..... My younger brother works for a Detroit Diesel service company here in England, where he has worked for many years in the parts department, 44 years he told me this morning ! David
landman Posted June 26, 2021 Author Posted June 26, 2021 Found some Lambo headers which will do just fine. Started the wiring. Worked at it until I got cross-eyed.
landman Posted June 27, 2021 Author Posted June 27, 2021 The dyno room is back together with two twelves.
Big John Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Let us know the figures on that Ardun after you've run her through her paces.

Found out that Ardun head kits are available from Don Ferguson for around $14,500. Also found out that an Ardun owned by Kohler Racing made 400 HP at 6500RPM on a dyno. So with a bit of extrapolation, the 12 churned out 600 Hp at 6500, all things being proportional. And that is with the weird plug spacing too.
Big John Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Thanks Pat, surprisingly the v12 was only 267ci stock. I 'd be willing to bet that Kohler had it opened up.

landman Posted July 9, 2021 Author Posted July 9, 2021 Putting stuff back on the various benches. The crankshaft grinding machine is back in operation.
Anglia105E Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 Your workshop is looking really busy now, Pat....... The whole scene is just how the real workshop would appear, during the process of putting everything back in place, following a move from one site to another , such as a house move in your case. Your machines, engines, toolboxes and figures are so realistic, and the workshop area of this diorama can easily pass for the real thing in close up photographs. You must be enjoying this opportunity to get the diorama set up fully again. David

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 Glad to see the shop opening back up Pat! Looks great! 1
landman Posted August 20, 2021 Author Posted August 20, 2021 Got a driver for the tractor, some barrels, a pump, a chainsaw and a winch.
Anglia105E Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Nice little batch of parts you have there, Pat......... The pump looks good, and the figure for the tractor too. Over in the WIP: Other Racing: section, I am building a 1:20 scale Red Bull F1 race car. Having a bit of trouble with getting the seated driver figure into the car at the moment. Good luck with your Background Diorama, Engine Rebuilders project ! David 1

landman Posted August 24, 2021 Author Posted August 24, 2021 In primer, nice detail. Hope I can do him justice with the paint.
