Sparkhead42
Here's some pictures of the first rig I built, all in all I spent a little over a month on it. It's a bone stock AMT Diamond Reo painted Lime pearl. Tell me what you think.

Rigzndiesel
Wow, very nicely done on both the truck and car! You are obviously not a novice to building models. Please start building more trucks...and cars! Jeff
72 Charger
Nice DR and nice Mopar . Just add a little bit of black to the exhust stack top or you could just replace the top pipe with polished ally tube

Sparkhead42
Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the comments. So question, anyone know a good rig to turn into a dump truck?
Jim B
First, your Diamond-REO looks really nice. The licenses plates should be on the front, not the back. Anyway, a dump truck? Well, there are a couple of dump truck kits out there: the AMT Autocar DC9964, International PayStar5000, & Ford LNT8000 come to mind. You might have to scour eBay to find them, though. To make one you could use the Diamond-REO that you just built (well, another kit, not that ONE), the AMT GMC General, AMT Chevrolet Bison, AMT Mack DM600, DM800, & R600. I've also seen Peterbilt 359 & Kenworth W900 dumps (Revell of Germany makes a W900 dump). Depending on what time frame, and what appeals to you just about any kit can be made in to a dump. Although the Kenworth T600 and International ProStar or LoneStar probably won't make very good dump trucks. Here is a good reference site: http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/ Have fun! Sparkhead42
Thanks Jim, definitely gonna look into the Kenworths. My local quarry uses a fleet of KWs and I thought I'd build a truck using their paint scheme
Jim B
Sounds interesting. The Revell of Germany Kenworth W900 is a 1972-82 truck. If you need something more modern (like a W900B), Gary Wallace of GW Trucks has a W900B cab kit & a modern dump body. You can contact him at gwtrucks@yahoo.com. The AMT kits are all 1970s vintage trucks.

Jonj238
Wow! If that's your first rig, I really looking forward to your second one.
