I really do not know a whole lot about american made engines and trannys, so when the box or manual doesn't tell what's included, I'm lost. So please help me identify this engine tranny combo. Its from revells 37 ford coupé rod. (Yellow boxart, 1994(?))

It looks like a Small Block Chevy. Probably the ubiquitous 350 V8. The transmission looks like a Turbo-Hydramatic 350. So it is every hot rodders favorite 350/350 combo, which is a little dated now-a-days. Hopes this helps.

I agree it is a small block Chevy, The rear distributor and the tri exhaust ports (the 2 middle ones are together). What cubic inch is hard to decipher from 283, 327 to 350 since all used so called 'small block' Transmission is automatic, make hard to tell on directions

Yes, the topic should have been "an engine for a Ford" rather than "a Ford engine" as I suspected it wasn't a Ford.

Thanks for all the help. Like I said, my knowledge on american made engines is limited.

Absolutely positively 100% "smallblock" Chevy. Could be a 283, 302, 327, 350, or 400, some other oddball displacements that aren't as well loved, or even an early 265 updated to look newer.

All the "smallblock" Chevrolet engines look much alike overall, and with detail and parts changes, can be somewhat difficult to identify in a model.

Here's an overview of this engine, one of the most famous and enduring in automotive history.

It's a small block chevy motor. probably Those are popular. I am building that kit also and it's a 327ci motor. I am not using the motor from the kit, I replaced it with a Ford 289ci. from a 94 Mustang kit. The ford motor looks more natural I think but then I am a ford guy! Bleed Ford blue!
