Scale-Master Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I was digging through the attic and found this the other day; it temporarily donated a valve cover and the traction bars to be cast for another project. I built this in the very early ‘80s, it was one of the first models I used the at the time new Testors Model Master enamels. The yellow is about the only older Pla enamel paint I used on it. I think the Aeroback conversion was done with custom window from another kit. Otherwise it is just out-of-the-box. I was not able to find the mirrors.
espo Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I have had one of these kits but have never gotten around to building it. The rear window looks like it might of come from a Monte Carlo Aero kit or maybe a NASCAR Aero kit.
BubbaJoe Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 i'm impressed you remember how you built the model 30 odd years ago...nicely done
Scale-Master Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) The rear window was from something a bit older than the Nova kit as I recall. I'm pretty sure it was from an MPC kit as part of the extra custom parts. Edited February 25, 2015 by Scale-Master
dirttrackdave Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 AS a nova lover (miss my 72 ss) great build. chevy missed boat not making one
Scalper Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Nice. Very good work on the back. Like it in yellow.
Drake69 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I grew up around Novas of the late 60's to 80's. Always liked the style of these cars. Nice one!
Scale-Master Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 My Dad had a '63 SS Nova, never cared much for it or that era of them. I had a '67 SS Nova and while it was very quick, it handled poorly and stopped even worse. But I do like the styling of the 2nd and 3rd gen Novas. Gearing up to start a model of that '67 too since I've got my Vega and Camaro in the works...
Drake69 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 My grandfather had a number of them, the last one was the late 70's. He stopped getting them when they went FWD subcompact, he said they didn't have any "heart" after that.
