Quickly on to my next build since I had this kit sitting around.

My very first real car was a 74 Satellite (4 door not hot rod), but as a kid I remember the car across the street. Yellow road runner, and I can only somewhat still visualize it. But I want to build this GTX as a tribute to that memory, I do remember a black top, so I'll play around with that also.

Got the tire and rims finished, moving on to the body

Found a good yellow I like but it takes forever to dry. I like working with fast drying paints. But I'll have patience

Wanted to give an update on the body, much more to do on it. I keep having to sand out light imperfections, and the weather here is below the spec I should be spraying, but I'm almsot there to move onto the next phase of the body. I don't want to give away how I want this to look by posting a 1:1 reference picture.

I snapped a shot this morning and the lighting wasnt great.

Also have been working with the interior body tub, I would have thought since this 1/24 is slightly larger than the 1/25's I've been building that I'd have a more detailed interior, the all in one piece with the doors already molded into the tub was a bit awkward to do the detail. But it's coming along also.

Thanks Carl

Finished the interior tub, may touch it up a little more. I really dont like how the painted wood molding came out, I thought I could sand the brown down some and bring out the black grain, but may try more. BUt for now this is my black on black interior

I finally got the vinyl roof on and part of the trim to show the look I'm going for, I need some better sunlight to capture how good the color looks and how the texture of the roof came out:

This is copy of this car I found from searching, and turns out its the GTX of the Wellborn collection. Except I'm going black interior.

Black interior was a good choice. The white remindse of a banana split with the rest of the cars' colors.

Real nice work so far. The wood grain does not look bad. I would touch up the doors and console by giving it another coat. Some dry brush a little black in the wood but I think the color looks good when the car is put together. Nice work on the top.

Thanks guys.

Carl, when I built the Revell viking ship out of plastic, the way I made it look like wood grain is I painted a tan base, then used actual stain oven that. you can see the results here, not sure why I didn't do that here:

Thanks for the tip on turn signalsguys, I didn't buy clear red and orange the first time you mentioned it, but I did on this one, and the BMF backing with clear red and orange is amazing looking, this picture doesn't do it justice. Looks like I'm finished the BMF, I passed on trimming the wheel wells.

This is looking great Dave. I had a '71 Plymouth Satellite back in the 80's that I got from my brother-in-law. I loved that car. It had a 318 that wouldn't quit. I really miss it.

Thanks Carl,

Thanks Rich, I had a Satellite also back in the late 80's, my first car, 1974 4-door, but it had the 318 also. Here's a pic from back in the day....not sure why I was so mad in the picture, just a teen not wanting his picture taken I guess. I ended up getting some nice rims on it and lifters in the back.
