PatW Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) I've just finished this build, my first of this type of modified Japanese car. The kit has parts to motorised it so there are a few parts that can be discarded. I had to heavily modify the rear end of the chassis to get the stance as in scale terms the rear flared arches were 6-8 inches above the tyres initially. There is working steering and a full interior with speakers and sound system if you want it. This is also my first go a fully foiling the window frames, door handles etc, using bright alloy plumbers tape. I've tried BMF before and really lashed it up, perhaps for me it's too thin. The paint is rattle can PlastiKote and there are decals in the kit. And a couple more pic to come............. Edited March 1, 2015 by PatW
PatW Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 And here they are.................. Now over to the shelves to look for the next build.
Notoriousek Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Looks great, foil work came out nice. Love these kits. Only thing I would point out is that you painted over the side marker lights in the front fenders...
PatW Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 Thanks guys. Yes Derek, I left those on, the kit instructions suggest you take those off. I was going to paint them orange just as marker lights, or foil them but forgot both! I must now try to foil the scripts, that's my next target.
PatW Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) Hi Derek I've been out to the cabin this morning and sorted the front side markers. I foiled them first and then painted them with Humbrol Clear Orange, although in the photo below it might look red it's orange!.............................. Now I can start on a Monogram Shelby 350 GT Mustang. Edited February 25, 2015 by PatW
PatW Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) Yes Danno your so right! Edited February 25, 2015 by PatW
Notoriousek Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Looks great. I wasn't trying to call you out, just knew it would look that much better if you touched it up real quick
PatW Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 That's OK Derek, no probs. No one seems to have spotted my deliberate mistake on the header of this thread..............................I've put the vehicle as an '86 when it's an '89!! I've tried to change the heading but don't know how?
Petetrucker07 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Go to your original post, hit edit. That should let you change it. Not my type of build, but it looks really good. Very nice job.
PatW Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Thanks Clayton, nice kit and thanks also for the info on changing the header.
PatW Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Cheers Jonathan. I'm half way through a Monogram Shelby 350 GT350R, and hope to finish that soon.
BubbaJoe Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 very nice.... i'll have to try the plumbers tape.thanks for the tip
PatW Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 Yes Joe, the BMF is way too thin for me, so I tried something else! And it's way cheaper too for a 5 metre roll.
