64SS350 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Just a thought, I have gone to my local automotive paint store and they mixed a half pint for$9, he said he could mix as little as 4oz. I noticed scale finishes was asking $12.50 for 2oz.

With the automotive paint, you may have to add the thinner and hardner to get it spray ready?

Not to mention that Jameston Kroon, owner of Scale Finishes, uses much finer grade metallic powders in his mixes, in order to get a much more scale appearing metallic paint. I use his colors, fantastic paints for model cars! Art
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 There's also MCW,(Model Car World) I get almost all of my paints from there & have always been very happy with them. All automotive lacquers, thinned for use, with in scale metallics. 1 oz. jars are $7.50 with a huge array of availible colors! Steve http://mcwautomotivefinishes.com
Ironman63 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) This site doesn't sell paint but it is a good place to find paint codes and colors by year: http://www.paintref.com I just click the "Paint Chips" tab at the top left then select the manufacturer and then the year. Another good one is Autocolorlibrary.com.
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I have the paintref site in my tool bar. I use it constantly! Steve
SCI-FI Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Just shopped at scalefinishes, shop boss Jameston Kroon was very helpful in finding the colors I needed. Colors look right, out of the box. After I spray, you'll see how they compare to the real vehicles. Much happiness with scalefinishes.com ...
