I bought this model 19 years ago without knowing it was a multi-piece body & a 1/32 & never had the courage to try to build it. I figured it's now or never after this many years.

Always wanted to see one of these built. Sure wish it was 1/25 though. I'd get several.

When Revell introduced these 1/32 scale 1950s US cars and trucks, the full-scale hot-rod mags did a lot of articles on using them to work out ideas on real vehicles before committing to the expensive metal work.

Don't get discouraged by people who say they're difficult. Take your time, fit things carefully, and you'll have a very nice model at the end.

I have a couple of those kits, the '56 Chrysler & the '56 Caddy. Never built one of them, but I have tinkered & they seem to fit together pretty well. Have to come up with your own glass though. Steve

I finally got the body built, prepped, & painted. It was a lot easier putting that multi piece body together than I thought it would be. I used Testors orange with a black/white interior to match the car on the box. No pictures of the interior yet. They're masked & painted. The chassis is pretty much one piece except for the rear suspension & one piece front suspension. The engine is pretty simple with few parts but It doesn't look to bad. The windshield frame I painted gloss black & used Alclad chrome. This kit doesn't come with a windshield so what's the best thing to use to make one?

With that wrap around windshield, & being so small, it might be a little tough! maybe try some thin clear plastic film. I have some "Clear Lay Film" that I bought at Hobby Lobby that's .007 thickness that might work. it's very thin & pretty flexible. You can buy a pack of four 8.5 x 11 inch sheets for $5.00.

have you test fitted any of the chrome trim yet?

it would be a shame to have fitment problems during final assembly.

Here it is almost done. I'm surprised there so few fitment problems for a 1956 mold. I've always wanted to build the '59 Ford retractable but the multi-piece body kept me from getting it. Now I'll have to get one since they're pretty easy to put together. Painting the figures, especially the face, has been a real challenge. I still have a ways to go with them. The biggest pain has been trying make a windshield & so far I haven't been to lucky.

On such a small face you will be better off just doing a light wash to bring out the shadows. Look at someone from a long distance, you won't really see their subtle tones of lips and eyes. Don't try at all to paint the "whites" of the eyes or they'll look bug eyed.

Interesting painting rig. Is that something you created yourself? Car looks very nice to me.

I made a couple of these about 10 years ago & they work real good. The model can be flipped over to paint the bottom. I made them out of 1x2's. I ran a couple screws into one for a base & the 1x2 the models attached to is held on by a long bolt with a wingnut on the back to loosen & tighten so I can flip the model over. I used a couple of coat hangars to hold the model. I'll get some better pics as to how it's put together in the next couple days. Edited by forthlin
