1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS

I decided to do a couple of things different with my Revell Camaro. I decided to do it as a RS/SS, by scratchbuilding a grille surround to use with the Model Car Garage photoetch, which I am going to use, as well as scratchbuilding the parking and back up lamps used on the Rally Sport option..

I also upgraded the standard intereor to the "Deluxe" interior trim seats and door panels.

I plan to put it in primer this week, and if everythig goes as planned it will be painted this weekend.

Having once owned one of these I will be watching this closely . Looks like a good one.

And if you haven't picked a color "marina blue" with a white Hugger stripe would be very cool

I'm leaning in that direction, if I can find the paint in my basement. I bought some for this,

If I got enough left over, I'll give it a shot.

Sorry Tyrone,

When I made the grille, I just envisioned what I wanted, and started cutting up, super gluing, marking, cutting and sanding sheet styrene until I got hat I wanted. Of ccourse I have doing this for over 50 years, and I have a couple of friends who are expert fabricators to draw inspiration from. There are no pictures of the work, and honestly I cannot tell you too much how I did it. Ain't that right Bill?

Ron, Model Master Olds Engine Blue does a very credible impression of '67 Marina Blue. I did a Chevelle in it and I'll be doing more '67 Chevies in the same stuff.

You're right about that. I have what's left of a can of MCW Marina Blue left over from the '67 Caprice, as well as a bottle for th air brush, which is the same as the blue I used on this '67 Corvette.

If I can get the paint job to come out like the Corvette, I will be a happy camper.

Ron, if you want to go Tahoe Turquoise, I just found out that Testor has a Teal paint in the "little bottle" line (available at Hobby Lobby) that's a near-perfect match. It's not billed as a metallic, but it is. I'm planning to do several '65-'67 GM cars with the stuff, including a '66 Bonneville convertible resto I've been putting off for some time.

Snake,

Do you know what number that Testors teal is? I have a friend that has a 67 Camaro in Tahoe Turquoise that I intend to replicate and would rather use the Testors than to get some from a paint store or MCW.

TIA!

Number on the bottle is 1193-RM11931-0711, Gloss Teal. Doesn't say it's metallic but it sure is. B)

Well disater struck today. I applied primer to the Camaro with no problem. Then I went to paint the body. The hood and rear roll pan came out ok. Then I went to paint the body, and disaster struck. The paint came out with what looked like a "hammered' effect. To add insult to it, I ran out of paint. Well, I stripped it, and re-blocked the car. We will try again tomorrow. Fortunately I did not paint the interior yet, other the dash, console, steering column, floorboard and package tray, which I did in black. The original plan was to paint the car Marina Blue, with either a blue or white/black interior. Since I am out of Marina Blue, I have to select another color. The good thing is I was able to put more work into the body, and I have plenty of alternative paint to use. This time I am going to start with a brand new can of paint.

I got the Camaro painted, Turquoise with the white stinger, and White interior trimmed in black. I plan to clear it tomorrow, as well as finiishing off the interior. With any luck, I should be able to take a few pictures of the progress made on the model. It seems to be going together fairly easy.
