  1. I built this for the 24 hour build in January. I used the old Monogram Edmunds super modified kit. I opened the nose, cut open the hood for the brass injectors, the rear tyres are Replicas & Miniatures, fronts are Herb Deeks. The engine is wired and I added a seat and power steering unit from the Monogram sprint cars. Painted with PPG lacquers and I made the decals on my ALPS printer. The inspiration came from a Hot Rods and Racing Cars comic book my grandma gave me 50 years ago.
  2. Looking for front windshield for AMT 1955 Chevy Nomad or glass from 1955 Chevy Bel Air (newer kit).
  3. The Deora looks to be my best option, from the instructions and pics it looks close. The Deora has the transmission as part of the block whereas the XR-6 is a separate piece. Texas 3D Custom resin also has a really mice 3D printed one far superior in detail only thing is that it 1/24. may also be an option. Cost is a bout the same either way.
  4. Thanks guys, I feared that may be the case.
  5. Did the Chrysler engine that was issued in the AMT XR-6 show car ever end up in any other kit? I have the kit and its missing 1/2 of the engine block.
  6. When I saw this car at World of Wheels in St. Paul back in 83-84 I fell in love with it. It was and will always be my dream rod.
  7. The decals are actually printed in gold. They pop nicely in the photos and in person they are a little more subtle.
  8. The key to the 24 hour build off is having a good plan before starting, picking a reasonably simple kit and time management. I use lacquer paints which dry relatively fast. Within the first 2 hours the body is painted and cleared and then I let it sit for 3 to 4 hours and work on sub assemblies.
  9. This is the Atlantis kit of the Fiat Topollino. This was built for the annual 24-hour Facebook challenge and was completed in the allotted 24 hour time frame. It was painted with PPG lacquer and is a 1975 BMW Jade Green Metallic and the frame is Mopar Sublime Green. The small block Chevy was wired and was from the parts bin. Decals were custom made on my ALPS printer. Various shades of metalizer were used throughout on all of the metal bits. Front tyres are from the kit and rears are from the parts bin. Injectors were Parts by Parks.
  10. This is my rendition of Dan Gurney's 1967 Spa Winner. It is the SMTS kit in 1/43 scale. I used MCW lacquer paint, Gurney metallic. It is a fiddley kit that requires careful attention to the fitment of the suspension components. I created new decals on the ALPS printer and added a mesh screen over fuel injection. Other metal bits were carefully polished using the dremel and a wire wheel. Heat stains on the exhaust were done using Tamiya clear yellow, orange, red and blue.
  11. I managed all of the Jolly's Hobby during a 6 year period and also did a stint at Motorsports Miniatures. I started at Southtown, did a short stint at Apache, went to Southview and ended up at Sunray. It was a struggle as we also carried crafts and the budget was spread thin. It was the dawn of the mail order business and I could see the writing on the wall. Scale Model Supply was always the go to for the cool stuff and it was not in the same location it is now. It was on the other side of the street in a brick 3 story house.
  12. I love it, in fact so much I wacked the top off my 37 today.
  13. I have nearly all of Jorgenson's "kits" and they vary in quality. I have a number of boxes that have hand writing in the box lid that states "will send rest of parts when I get them cast" or "missing windscreen will send later"....and no they never arrived.
  14. I have a few more things to finish, that being one of them. Its the black and yellow plate 013 and I have to paint the tonneau cover snaps and the Ranchero logo.
  15. My 'what if' Shelby shop truck.
