Revell Ulenhaut Coupe

07 December 2012 - 09:00 PM

Been building this for a while.  It has not been a happy build, I did everything wrong & then to top it off fitting the body onto the chassis & keeping the wheels anywhere need the deck was difficult, for me anyway.  Be interested in any other comments from people who have built this kit!!  Anyway it does look half decent in the display cabinet.

A pair of Ferrari Daytona's

28 June 2012 - 08:50 PM

I've had these built for quite a while.  The plain red 365GTB is a Fujimi Enthusiast kit.  It has been built box stock with the exception of engine wiring, I'm pretty sure the seat belt hardware is out of the kit.  The yellow 365GTB/4 is a fictitious competition car.  It is a rebuild of a cheap Japanese curbside I had pulled apart.  All the competition mods were done with white & clear styrene.  The wheels & tyres were from the parts box.

Toyota 7 (Japanese Can Am car)

15 June 2012 - 09:42 PM

I was lucky enough to have a mate of mine pick up this along with a Nissan R382 Gp 7 car for me.  Both are old motorised kits manufactured by Otaki but build in to reasonable models.  I had to make the wheel centres for the Toyota as it came with the Nissan wheels, cheaper to manufacture that way I guess.  I scratch built one centre, moulded it and then cast 4.  I cut out the incorrect wheel centre and epoxied these into place.  The decals were ###### so my same mate that found the kits for me also made me the decals (thanks again Phil K).  Finished in auto acrylic pure white & a home mixed dark blue, clear coated & polished out.

Chaparral 2J (scratchbuilt)

09 June 2012 - 11:16 PM

Built this one many years ago using the plans in MRRN.  I used 0.010", 0.025", 0.040" styrene & 0.040" aluminium sheet.  Decals are by Fred Cady.  I have recently bought a Fisher Model & Pattern Chaparral 2F so I copied a set of fronts for the 2J. These have now replaced the Cox Chaparral 2 rear slot car wheels I previously used.  Dash board is a little crowded but I'm loathe to pull it apart now, think I will have to live with it.
