MCM Ohana

MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. Nice build - there's a lot of work that has been put into this. It is also nice to see a model with such a personal story behind it.
  2. Nice '34 - the colour scheme works really well. You don't see many of the 34s built up (at least over here in the U.K.), especially with the Drag City Castings resin body (the only one I have seen here is a nice one done by Lee Elliot). The colour scheme reminds me of the 90s rods - you have also got the smooth style on this build that was popular then as well.
  3. Nice C6 Corvette - the colour scheme has worked out really well. Well done on getting the award!
  4. It is always impressive to see people come up with another take on a '32 Ford. When you remove the roof and pop the bonnet it reveals another level of fabrication - I'm sure people will enjoy looking at it on the show circuit and that the judges will be impressed as well.
  5. Nice build of a historic funny car - I like the way that your red paint turned out. I have one of these kits to build - yours has given me some ideas of how to proceed. For braided line and fittings visit Detail Master's website. They really help capture the character of drag engines.
  6. Good choice of topic, and the build has turned out nicely. If you want a semi-gloss finish on the hood with a decal you could use a glossy finish as usual to avoid silvering and then shoot a coat of satin clear over once the appropriate amount of drying time has passed.
  7. I like the colour scheme with the baby blue bodywork and red wheels.
  8. Not the sort of build that I normally look at, but when I saw your name I was confident it would be well worth it. Nice build, it certainly captures the character of these kind of racing cars.
  9. Thanks for the reply Randy - I thought that you had used bare metal foil but asked in case it was something else (e.g. alclad or molotow). It is certainly a striking model of a C2 Corvette - as others have said, the colour scheme works really well.
  10. It is cool that you still have the Peterbilt from when you were young. It is interesting to see the differences in the two Peterbilts in the side-by-side photos.
  11. Very nice C2 Corvette! What did you use to do the chrome around the windows?
  12. I suspect this is something a lot of us have on our list of build ideas - I certainly have. You have done a nice job with your collection - I like the pictures where they are all together, it is cool to look across the eight generations of the Corvette in one picture.
  13. Before I put decals on a surface I polish the paint with polishing cloths, but I do not use any compounds or wax. When I apply the decals I make use of decal solvents and then put the parts in a food dehydrator. The next day I gently wipe them with a damp kitchen towel and put them back into the dehydrator. A day or two later I then clear them, or use wax if not putting clear over them (for certain effects, like an older car, or on clear parts). I haven't had any problems so far - this process was used on the two Corvettes pictured here.
  14. I'd like to see a 930 as well. The Speedster would be interesting as well since it evokes memories of the 356 version. I have found one thing that I hadn't noticed before about the new Revell 911s - I was thinking about super-detailing the engine on one of mine and noticed the cylinder heads only represent 4 spark plugs rather than the 6 that they should.
  15. Thanks for the compliment Chuck! It would be interesting to see the US and Euro versions next to each other. I have got a few of the Fujimi 911s as well - you're right about the variety offered, this is part of the reason I have some of them. I haven't built one but am expecting a decent level of detail but tricky assembly from what I have heard/read.
