  1. What would be a good way to convert this kit to 4wd? Saw another thread discussing it and it sounds like the 70 F100 would be a good start, but the wheels would be incorrect and there are no aftermarket options. Is there something that I could piece together from various kits? Thanks!!
  2. I need help determining what color I should get that matches closest to the Vitamin C color on the Pymouth Hemi 'Cuda. I am currently building the Revell Hemi 'Cuda and recently discovered the Tamiya TS14 Orang is a too dark to be the correct Vitamin C color I am trying to achieve. I am looking into the Testors Model Master Go Mango orange, but the problem is, is it really metallic like this? because I am going for a classic look not a restomod look. Here is what I mean by "metallic".
  3. So I spray painted the body with gloss black paint however the result isn't what I expected it to be. It is only glossy in some areas and most other areas have no shine as you may see in the pictures. Is the problem with my spray paint or my surface preparation? Also from the close up second picture you can see these weird lines on the surface. I actually sanded them before paint however they are still present after. What are they and how could I get rid of them? Thank you!
  4. Bought a used Drag-U-La model on Ebay. The kits all there except the exhaust manifold. Without the part I know I can't finish the model. On my Gundams Blu-Fin has a replacement parts program. Does AMT models have the same thing? Does anyone know if AMT has a replacement parts program? Links? Anything will help.
  5. I need help deciding whether or not I am ready to buy and put together a Tamiya Supra https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000WN57YE/sr=1-26/qid=1489617191/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=&qid=1489617191&sr=1-26 Im a girl IN LOVE with cars, and im really interested in buying the Supra model kit and to put it together. Also, can i use real car paint on the model? I sound dumb right now but everyone starts somewhere Do we require alot of knowledge on engines and assembly.. will it be really hard for me to assemble one and paint one?? how much of an expert do you need to be to put one of these models together?
  6. Hello! I'm here looking for help, I built a few models a lifetime ago with my stepdad but that's it. I was about 5 so I have no idea what we used or what we needed. My husband built models as a kid up into his teenage years but when life got busy he didn't have the time to keep doing it and lost all his stuff over the years. He likes models he has to pain. I want to get him everything he needs to start back buolding with for Christmas but I have no idea where to start. I at least want to get the basics and then I can get him the "fancy" stuff that's just nice to have for other gifts. My question is what are the basics? He mentioned air brushing and small air compressors in conversation but I didn't want to press much I want it to be a surprise. Also, what's the best place to buy equipment and supplies from? Including build kits? What kind of paint do I need to get for airbrushing? I know I don't know the lingo here but this is something I really want to do for my hard working husband. I craft, sew, and cut vinyl so I want to give him a section of my art room for his art too ❤️ Thanks in advance for your help!
  7. Looking for advise, tips, tricks, etc on re-contouring the deck lid on my '69 H/O convertible build. How malleable is the zinc(?) body? Will it bend a bit before fracturing? I am amazed by the diecast cars you guys build and hope there's someone who knows their way around a diecast body who will share their knowledge and can keep me out of trouble and on point with my project. My sincere thanks in advance for you assistance!!!
  8. I just dropped the body of my beetle. And I already put bmf and glued some exterior parts on it. The rear cracked and I need to know how to repair it. I do not want to repaint the body. Please help!!
  9. Title says it all, has anyone ever scratch built a carb, making a car on a budget and wanted to have a go at making my own, but im a bit of a rookie, anyone succeded and made a tutorial on it?
  10. I still can't post pictures! I use too, but every picture I try and post is to big, I have looked at my cell phone settings and still not working, I have a samsung 4, settings are 13M 4128X3096 (4:3}, w9.6m 4128x2322 (16:9), 8m 3264x1836 (4:3), w6m 3264x1836 (16:9), w2.4m 2048x1152 (16.9) This is the Options I have, any help I would then start posting again, thanks Alan
  11. This Forum wasn't easy to find. Here's the Inspiration. (http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2013/10/20/hemmings-find-of-the-day-1967-lincoln-continental-2/) BLACK with BLACK 1967 Lincoln Continental 4 Door with the Vinyl removed from the Roof. A 1953 Nash (?) Flying Lady Hood Ornament was added. Hood Ornament? We don't need no Stinking Hood Ornament. If I could drive, I'd buy this 1967. The only thing I would change is... the Exhaust. For some reason... they're never loud enough. A set of Cherry Bomb Glasspacks would cure that. Here's the Victim. I'm not going to convert this into a 67. I just need a good Hardtop to fit this Body. I believe I have similar set of wheels or I can use Baby Moons or Dog Dish Wheel Covers. I've done one as a Wagon and another one (Pretty much) Factory Stock. It's time for something TWISTED. The next Contestant is a Resin Realm 1957 Chevy 210 4 door. Okay-Okay... I'll admit it, I like 4 door cars and Wagons. I haven't any pictures of the one my older brother built and drove waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the early 70's. It was all Black with Black Interior. It had a built 327c.i.d. and I can't remember if it was a Manual 3 or 4 speed trans.. I helped him change it once. It was one of those cars that you heard loooooong before you caught sight of it. Here's my dilemma, I got sick and lost some vision. I can't Re-scribe the Panel lines in the Resin Body. If there's anyone in my area of the Frozen State of Connecticut that wants an Unbuilt AMT 57 Chevy Kit: 638 in exchange for Re-scribing the Resin Body's Panel Lines, let me know. (The Unbuilt AMT 57 Chevy Kit: 638) I bought this AMT Kit: 638 because I couldn't remember which kit I needed. (The AMT 1957 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop needed and bought) As it turned out I needed the older AMT 1957 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop. I'll always remember it as the"Pepper Shaker" issue. It seems funny to me because, it was the same Brother's favorite Model kit. How weird is that? Another weird thing about this kit is... the upper Grille part that's supposed open with the Hood... doesn't. I can still build... albeit slowly and carefully. If I couldn't... my Doctor wouldn't be happy with my Demeanor, his new nickname and choice of Colorful Metaphors hurled at him. I can live without driving but not cars.
  12. I'm trying to build a replica of a 57 Chevy 210 4 door my brother drove waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the 70's. I bought a resin 57 Chevy 210 4 door but, I ran into a bit of a snag. It seems that heart attack number 12 cost me more than just 4 bypasses. I lost partial vision in my left eye in the form of a dark line that crosses my eye at about a 40 degree angle, fuzzy vision in the right and I can't seem to keep my hands from shaking. The latter may be because of the medications I have to take. When I bought the Resin 57, I also bought 2 AMT 57s. 1 fairly new reissue of the old "Pepper Shaker" and the new issue with the opening trunk. I bought the newer issue because I couldn't remember which one of the two I needed to finish the resin one off. As it turnes out, I needed the early AMT issue. The problem with the resin model is the door and trunk lines need to be scribed better and I'm in no hurry to lop a finger off. I'm hoping there's someone in my area that can scribe these for me. I'd be more than happy to give up the other 57 Chevy model to get this done. It's still in the box and and unbuilt. Next question, Can the Alclad Chrome process be used with a Testors 9215 ACRYL MODEL CAR SPRAY PAINT SET? I can't get a straight answer from Testors or Alclad and I've tried to use an Airbrush and failed on several occasions. Thanks.
  13. Hey guys, I'm Caleb, owner of American Classic Models I have an old sears brand single-action bottom-feed airbrush, and I'm thinking about using it. I have all the other essentials, compressor, regulator, braided hose, etc, and it seems to look a lot like some of the new badger models, its older so keep in mind its probably built to last. Those cheap plastic starter airbrushes from hobby lobby don't do the trick. Just need some opinions on whether or not its good to use. Of course it will need a good cleaning. The model number is 364-15506 I think. Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated! Don't forget to check out my great friend, Jameston Kroon, over at www.scalefinishes.com for high-quality paints. -Caleb Here's the airbrush:
