Rider Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) The '49 Revell kit is one of the most popular kits built in recent years. So I had to do something a bit out there. First crack at the lace technique. Zero Paint: GT40 Gulf blue/orange Model Masters: Zinc Cromate Yellow Spaz Stix: Ultra Chrome, Over Tamiya Black Acrylic, for black Chrome effect My own resin wheels/tire's/spinners 2part poly clear with gold pearl powder mixed in. Super fun build, one that I am proud of with much room for improvements. Edited May 8, 2016 by Rider Added more build specs.
espo Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Very nice. I like the way you made a Custom look more like a Road Racer. The lace paint treatment is something I have also wanted to try.
Rider Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Thanks for checking my build out, and thank you for the kind words. It was a ton of fun.
Burnout Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Your lace treatment looks very cool. Almost looks like a snakeskin pattern which I like. What is Spazstix and is that how you made the nice border around the orange lace or is that something else? Thanks for sharing.

Spaz Stix is a chrome spray paint.
Rider Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) Thanks Very much guys.Yes It is Chrome paint. It works 100 times better then Alclad, no hit and miss like Alclad. This stuff can be handled, taped, cleared etc, basically as true to Chrome paint as you will find without the crazy expensive chroming paint. It also comes in rattle cans. Edited April 14, 2016 by Rider
Foxer Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 What amazes me more than anything on this is that thin black outline! That's paint?
Dave Ambrose Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Super Nice. It looks like it wants to eat whatever's in front of it.
Spex84 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Snakeskin Gulf livery?Sure, why not!Cool paint combo and some awesome underhood detailing, I love the oil filter lines. As others have stated, the black stripe is really sharp!
Rider Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 Thanks for the compliment. Yup that is paint, done with .4mm masking tape.Snakeskin Gulf livery?Sure, why not!Cool paint combo and some awesome underhood detailing, I love the oil filter lines. As others have stated, the black stripe is really sharp! Thanks, it does kinda look like snake skin doesn't it.
