This is my own glue-bomb.  The only original build I have left from my early builds (other than some 1/32 sports cars).  I found it in a box in my parents basement when I was cleaning out some stuff after they passed. So far I have stripped it and repainted, however for some reason the left front fender has taken a nose high attitude.  When I get back to it I will probably cut out the radiator support and try some hot water on the fender.  There are no pictures of the renovations.  I was lucky enough to get a replacement hood and grille from Modelhaus before they left the business.

Couple recent toy show finds. 

Monogram '70 Challenger TA. Looks worse here than it is. It's molded in that pretty metallic brick red (first issue?) and should respond to a general cleanup, plastic-polish, and detailing. Missing the taillight(s), if anyone just happens to have a spare set (if not, I'll just scratchbuild some). Could use the kit TA stripe decals, too, if anyone can spare them. 

 

MPC snapper '33 Willys, a kit I always managed to just miss. It's not in bad shape. The idea will be to lower the ridiculous stance a bit and get the whole thing to look a bit less cartoony. The Paddy Wagon junk will come off and I'll try to polish the blue plastic. 

 

Seems to be a snapper Revell '34 Ford. Again, not in bad shape, just dirty and in need of a little Snake-Fu to bring it to life. The flames seem to be tampo printed. I really don't like them, but will probably leave them for now. I don't want to paint the thing, and I don't want it all-black, either. I probably have some better flame decals around here somewhere. Should be an easy, fun project just to get to displayable condition for the shelf. 

 

This '65 GTO just spoke to me--OB seemed to have gotten the sit and attitude just right for a late '60s-early '70s street fighter. I dig it! Should respond to a good cleaning and polish, and black paint is easy to touch up. It's complete except for the hood scoop insert, but that's not a deal-breaker--I can either sili-clone one from a kit, or just leave it open--I'm sure that was done at the time. Kinda looking forward to getting stared on this little monster. Gonna see if I can re-chrome the Cragars with a Molotow; if that doesn't work, will probably paint the spokes gray/steel and call 'em knockoffs.

That GTO does look cool. I'd kinda want to leave it as is, glue on the front bumper and display it as a barn find old "street hero" - at least until the dust really bugged me.

Snake, you coule get Cragars with grey and black spokes in the past and they do sell them again now so paint away, no need to call them "knock-offs"

It might look a little barn find-y in the pics, but real life it just looks like a dirty model that wasn't built all that well in the first place (though not horribly, or I wouldn't have messed with it).

Wonders? Sometimes, but not usually. But the whole idea with some of these projects is just to have fun, something we sometimes forget in our "serious" modeling.

Your a lucky man Ricky....I have my dad sold one I have been after parts for it for years now so i can restore it....cool find.

As received...

After 3 soaks in brake fluid, 4 sprays with Easy-Off oven cleaner and 2 swipe sessions with mineral spirits to remove the small stuck areas. That blue paint was tough!

And as it is right now...

The hood is borrowed from my 66 Falcon and is used to make sure all the pieces are in the right place. I might try scratchbuilding a new hood if I can't find another one.

I plan on using the chassis and most of the interior from the 66 Fairlane and a small block Ford from an early Mustang to get it up and running. Pat supplied the grille, bumpers, taillights, dash and windshield, so I'm almost there.

Wow! That one is rough! I have one that is almost as rough. It's a 67 where the mouldings have been crudely sanded off. I have not stripped it, but it looks like it has putty in it.  Good luck. Mid 60's Falcons are scarce.

Thanks! I found out last night that I can scrape the black paint off the wheel spokes with a wooden toothpick, but it's slow and tedious going. If it doesn't work out, gray spokes will definitely be Plan B.

Some great saves here. I sure wish I had my old models from the 60's. You would not believe how many I ruined with firecrackers or shot with a BB or pellet gun.

Mostly got this one ?for the chrome and seats to restore my maroon ex-promo. ?

But, I've got plans for this poor wreck too. No it's not going to be a dirt track racer. The roofline is far superior to the new tool Fairlane, so I want to save it along with this one?. Stay tuned.

Got this from Brandon for the chrome to restore my hardtop as well, but he gave me so many good parts with it, that I want to restore the convertible too! Other than the broken windshield frame, that body is perfect. I'll probably try to find a mod stocker for the missing bits to fix that one.

Going to use parts of this to build a replica of a car my dad used to own back in 64. Steve also included a convertible body which is also nice enough to use, but I don't have enough parts to restore it - yet.

I'll post updates as soon as I get them going.

Snagged off eBay last week for cheap. A few years back I was kicking around the idea of a mild late ‘50s-era custom of the much more common ’58 Impala hardtop, but got my mind permanently stuck on a Bonneville version instead, only to discover the kits are generally in unobtainium-level prices. Patience does pay sometimes in long term eBay watching, and this one is ideally suited for the price. Since it’s already missing its trim, it’s not like I will be wrecking a pristine original. Only needs a little bit of putty on the rear bumper before rechroming, and as for the rest of it, such as a full roof, there’s no problems a donor ’58 Impala can’t easily cure. As though I really needed another project, of course, but you guys know how that goes …..

This one was barely worth saving, it was a lot worse that the photo shows.........

........but I liked the bubble top on so I spent way too much time and money on it.

Today at a local flea market/"collectibles" shop I bought a Big Box O Glue Bombs that has one of these in it. Full custom front end installed, as is the bubbletop. I don't think the stock front end pieces are still there. I have an unbuilt '65 HT kit with a bad body, so I can come up with whatever custom stuff is needed to finish it. The bubble top seems to be in good shape, and it's never been painted. I might try to rebuild it, or I might put it up here for swap. 

The BBOGBs also had an AMT '67 Vette with the custom van top, complete and never painted. I consider these two alone worth what I paid for the whole box. Not sure what else is in there, but I remember many--most?-pieces of an original Ala Kart, a good deal of an original issue Monogram '55 Bel Air convertible, a '58 T-Bird with custom double bubble top, most of a '32 Vicky drag car, maybe a '49 Ford of some kind, and one of the Hawk 1/32 Bonneville-ish cars. As soon as I can sneak the box into the house (past The Lovely Mrs. Snake, who just doesn't understand any of this AT ALL!), I'll try to inventory what I've bought, post pics, and maybe offer some of it up for swap. 

I'm as happy as a kid on Christmas morning!
