Zoom Zoom Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Finished the Jada GT500; overall I'm pretty happy with it. I ended up using Porsche Cayman wheels/Fujimi brakes. Paint is Ford Windveil Blue.
crispy Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Like I said earlier Bob, That looks great. The wheels set it off nicely. It looks clean. Chris
MrObsessive Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Squeaky clean Bob!! Somehow the body on the Jada seems a little crisper than the Revell 'Stang? Perfect stance on that one too Bob!
george 53 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Oh heck yeah,Bob.Great job. Looks like it should be in a showroom.Color, stance, wheels, all come together great! I'd let my son-in-law buy it!(I'm a thru & thru Chevy/Chrysler guy).
MikeMc Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 As always I'm in awe!!!! Those are the best choice of wheels for this one out of your choices posted! With your eye and ability I sure wish you would do a modern hot rod.........So how about a kool '32 ?
cruz Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Beautiful job Bob, looks like one you did about a year or so ago, I think silver or something w/ gray stripes?? Like this color more though!!!
kk916 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I dont usually say this because I'm a jerk like that but I honestly clicked on the link and thought I was looking at reference pics for a second. VERY nice job
Zoom Zoom Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Beautiful job Bob, looks like one you did about a year or so ago, I think silver or something w/ gray stripes?? Like this color more though!!! Thanks! I did the Revell kit immediately when it came out, and used Aoshima wheels on it. Had to do a lot of Dremel work to get the wheels inside the fenders, this kit's easier to modify. If it weren't for the big bling wheels and tubbed chassis to accept the gigantic wheels, the detail/quality of this kit really is superior to AMT, and rivals Revell, better in some respects. The plastic is much better than both Revell/AMT, and everything is very crisp. Jada can keep coming out with more kits like this, and I'll be perfectly happy. Here's my GT, painted in Ford Tungsten Gray. I bought Tungsten Gray/Legend Lime/Windveil Blue when they were available from Cobra Colors.
SteveG Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Bob, Well done, great choice of wheels and paint color !!! It will be interesting to see what other plastc kits Jada brings us. Thanks for the build up and review. Steve
MonoPed Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 That looks sweet!! Still trying to figure out what I want to do with my Revell kit, cannont figure out what wheels to put under it.
Nick F40 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 ohhhh, what a babe! for some reason though, that picture just makes it look out of proportion.
Zoom Zoom Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 WOWWWWW! That looks killer, Bob! Couple of questions ... 1. How did you get the rear wheels to line up correctly in the ginormous rear wheel tubs? Spacers? 2. How did you do the black surrounds on the windows? I noticed that Jada did not delineate those on the kit's "glass." Thanks, I made styrene spacers. I'll shoot the chassis later; I have to repair one of the wheels and I need to beef up the attachment pieces w/some styrene tubing. I use a chisel-point black Sharpie for the black window masking. It's painfully easy, even freehand
Zoom Zoom Posted May 10, 2008 Author Posted May 10, 2008 (edited) Thanks for all the comments. I had to beef up the wheel retainers; I cut some styrene tubing and fit it over the stub axles on the Mustang and they attach to the backs of the brakes. Pretty primitive, but works. You want more accurate detail, rob a Revell Mustang For comparison with the Revell kit, here it is next to my Revell GT: Edited May 10, 2008 by Zoom Zoom
VW Dave Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Amazing job on that GT500, Bob; looks downright gorgeous!!!
