Scale-Master Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 I'm building this one straight out of the box, but changing up the colors (compared to the instruction call outs) to match some versions I found online. First up was to paint the single piece monocoque semi-gloss black then gloss black for the cockpit area. I used TS-29 and LP-1.
Bennyg Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 I’ve got one on the go too. Looking forward to seeing your build. Ben
kelson Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 Your work is always top notch, this should be a great build!!.
Scale-Master Posted April 19, 2021 Author Posted April 19, 2021 Thanks guys. The LP-1 Black (thinned with Tamiya lacquer thinner) checked and crazed over the TS-29 as it dried overnight. (The TS-29 was shot 24 hours before the Gloss Black.) Not the first time I've used this paint, but the first time something less than good resulted. So I sanded it out and reshot with decanted TS-14 and had no adverse reaction.
slusher Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Nice start! Looking forward to your great work on this super car..
Scale-Master Posted April 19, 2021 Author Posted April 19, 2021 Thanks Carl! I also painted the other gloss black body parts at the same time I repainted the roof section.
Scale-Master Posted April 21, 2021 Author Posted April 21, 2021 These are the body parts that will be shot white. (I'm doing the end plates of the rear spoiler in the accent color.)
Scale-Master Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 The calipers are called out to be the same color as the body accent pieces, but I thought the photos of the real car in the instructions indicated otherwise. I liked the anodized look so I used TS-54, TS-17 and TS-72 to get close enough.
David G. Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 It's a shame about the paint, nice recovery though. The wheel gear looks great. David G.
Scale-Master Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 Thanks guys! The engine is engineered "without parts count escalating excessively", and I'm sure when it's under the glass it will look fine.
Matt Bacon Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Looking great. I shall follow closely for tips to use when I do mine. Given that the back end doesn’t open, I’m sure the engine will be absolutely fine! best, M.
Mattilacken Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Looks great! Will be following, like to see how you make these pieces of plastic come alive!
Scale-Master Posted April 24, 2021 Author Posted April 24, 2021 Thanks guys! So far the fit of the parts has been nothing short of great. I have completed steps 1 and 2…
Scale-Master Posted April 25, 2021 Author Posted April 25, 2021 I started painting the seats to match the photos of a real one I found. TS-53 and TS-23 both mixed with Dullcote.
Bennyg Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 I’ve painted my seat’s cushions with Italian red dulled down with flat clear. Love your colour choice too! Ben
Scale-Master Posted April 25, 2021 Author Posted April 25, 2021 (edited) Thanks Ben! The chassis builds up very quickly once all the painting is done. The fit is still excellent so far. Scale-Master Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 Not sure why some of the images are not showing. I'll see if they post here... Scale-Master Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 The wheels got some blue too.
Scale-Master Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 I know the same links work fine in other forums. Maybe it's related to the recent software update done here on Sunday. Same timeframe as the photos began to stop showing.
