I could help you with the Corvette valve covers and intake, but I will not be able to get to my model parts until closer to the end of August. I am guessing you want to have the car done by then.

Yeah, I'm hoping to have it done before then Larry. I appreciate the offer! I'm still digging through parts hoping to find something that will work. I may just stick the Fuelie setup from the '57 on it. Another member gave me an idea using the setup from a '65 GTO. We'll see.

FWIW, I have used the 3×2 intake from the AMT '58 Impala on small block engines and it works with minimal modification. It looks pretty close too. I used carbs from a Revell parts pack.

I have finally settled on the wheel and tire setup on this thing! This is what I was looking for!

They tie everything together! The black, white and chrome. The wheels aren't seated into the tires in this photo as the paint on the tires wasn't completely dry. But, I couldn't wait to see what they looked like! With the budget look it has, I'm going to just build the engine as it would have came out of a '57 Chevy. The only addition will be a chrome air cleaner. Now I can maybe make some progress and get this thing done!

Looking killer. This top is begging for a mild chop.

Thanx! I agree. But, then it would lose it's "backyard" identity. Not to mention if I did that, then I would have to do this....and this.....and then it would end up back in a box.

Very kewl. I'd like to see the top folded down, but that's my taste. Digging the build as is!

Thanx! I plan on using that piece also. I just like to see how they look with the uptop on.

I totally hear you about ending up in a box. Been there, done that...

It's happened to me too many times. I keep thinking I'll get back to them. But, it rarely happens. This model has given me a hankering to get back in on this old model. It's been idling for about four years.

Back to this one! I now have a rolling chassis! I was able to keep the poseable steering on it. I still have to add the pitman arm, steering link and I may or may not add the shocks.

I think it's gonna make a cool looking old hot rod when it's done!

Right now, I'm mulling over the interior color. I don't know if I should do the stock brown color or white. I'm really leaning towards white. But, it could be too much. It kinda looks too much in the bare styrene with the top on. But, it looks right with the folded down top. I may try an off white.

Traditional-ish black and white 2-tone interior would seem appropriate. Black carpets, white seats with black pleated inserts, similar door panels. (?) A deep oxblood red could be snazzy, too!

The interior is going to be black and white. The dash and floor will be black. The rest will get white. I may paint the square portion of the door panels black. Depends on what it looks like once I get the seat and dash stuck in.

I now have the engine done and glued in. No details. I just want a simple (or as simple as it can be) type build. I also have the fenders glued to the chassis. I decided to keep the rumble seat instead of turning it into a hinged trunk.
