  1. br67, I’ll give that a try! I’ve never cast anything before, but there’s a first time for everything! Bucky, I still have a few parts cars to check, but so far none of the parts kits are close.
  2. It’ll be both! The passenger side will be a junker, the drivers side showroom fresh.
  3. Got some grunge down today, looking close to what I want. This project just might work out after all, as long as my luck with it holds out!
  4. I got this kit fairly cheap because of the damage, I think around 45ish? I figured I’d be able to swap out the whole pillar with something. I only paid that because it’s the only Fury game in town! Thanks the thought Steven, but back then I had my hands full with a ‘67 GTX, and a ton of repair work from rearranging the display shelves! I wouldn’t have been able to cut up a good body anyways. I’m almost coming around to looking forward to try to rebuild the pillar, I’m sure it won’t be the last broken one I’ll have to deal with, might as well learn how to fix ‘em!
  5. Unfortunately, I don’t have a choice. These kits aren’t cheap, so I have to work with what I’ve got! The rest of the kit is unbuilt/unpainted, this is the only issue. Oh well, it’s a good opportunity to learn something.
  6. Well, I got a start on this one yesterday, and figured I’d post it up. I used to own one of these, but had to sell it about 9 years ago. I loved that car, so hopefully I can do it some justice. I have two of the JoHan ‘66 Fury kits (one a rebuilder), so I figured I could build one as it was when I sold it, and one as how I wanted it to be, which is what this build will be. I thought I had to work from memory, but my awesome wife searched and searched through what seemed like thousands of pictures on an external drive and found a bunch of my old car! Believe it or not, that green colour is “Citron Gold”, and is green inside as well. It was a 383 auto, with bucket seats and console, with power steering and brakes. I grabbed then 383 auto from the ‘69 Dart GTS, the chassis from the ‘64 Dodge 330, and a bunch of random parts from various kits to gather what I need for this project. I’ll be closely copying what Steven did with his Fury (to the best of my limited skills!). The 383 is started, I made a new breather for the drivers side valve cover, and will be making a PCV for the passenger side. I’ve got a few different Fireball carbs to choose from. I’m having a lot of fun scratching bits to get it as close to what it was as I can (trans dipstick, modifying the console from the Revell ‘68 Charger to an auto). I do need a bit of advise on how to repair the windshield pillar. It had been broken in two spots, and a rough repair made by the previous guy. I don’t have a parts kit that has a pillar close to the same size.
  7. Ok, got some work done on this, though not alot. I got distracted by Steven Guthmillers ‘65 Fury, and ended up starting a ‘66 Sport Fury to replicate a car I used to own, into what I wanted that car to be. So the plan with this build is to do the drivers side as a factory fresh car, the passenger side as a worn out old beater. I want to say I saw this idea somewhere, but I can’t remember where for the life of me! I’ve got a start on the rust layers, and the base engine (440 six pac). The engine will be fun, as the beater side will be missing parts (I opened the distributor, adding the rotor, belt will be gone, and the upper rad hose is gone, there’ll just be a bit of it on the drivers side). Color-wise, I haven’t settled on exterior colour yet, though the interior will be white. I think that’ll show off the new/old difference best.
  8. I followed this build on another board, and it’s amazing! Makes me miss my ‘66 Sport Fury terribly....
  9. Thanks everyone!
  10. Looks awesome!
  11. I’ve never found anything that awesome in a junkyard! Not a lot of progress lately, we had 4 extra high school kids boarding here this week for a big student leadership convention. Now things are back to normal, so hopefully I can hit this one hard and get something done!
  12. Thanks! The charger rear end definitely looks better! Im actually using pics I found online of this car for reference and inspiration! It does look good with that colour combo.
  13. I’ve got this in the go now that the GTX is done. I’m doing something a bit different with this one, though I’m not sure how it’ll work out, so I’ll keep it under my hat for now ?. So far I’ve got the basic engine together (440 six pac), it’ll have basic wiring and plumbing. Some body work and engine bay detail were added, since these kits are a bit light in that area. I’ve used some parts from the Revell ‘68 Charger (braces and bolts) as well as building the hood latch plate. I just have to add the spring. I’m also using the Charger front suspension and rear axle, since these Super Bee and Roadrunner kits all seem to have the wheels way to far in. It'll have steel rims and dog dish caps (Fireball Modelworks resin pieces). I haven’t decided on a colour combo yet, suggestions?
  14. Thanks! I added some bits of scrap under the front of the rear springs to bring it up some, and I cut the “spindles” off the front, drilled them and the mount for a pin, and moved them up a touch.
  15. Thanks! I just used Tamiya fine grey primer. It turned out pretty good! I didn’t clear it, since the last couple I tried clearing went sideways.
  16. Painted Tamiya Metallic orange with black interior. I decided against the stripes, mainly because they fell apart when I tried to apply them. The hood doesn’t currently sit properly because there’s one plug wire that pokes up a wee bit too much, and I somehow lost the air cleaner! I had to raise the rear end a bit, as well as lower the front to get a proper looking ride height. But all in all, a decent kit, and a nice build to park besides the one I did 15ish years ago.
  17. Ok, this ones all wrapped minus the air cleaner I somehow lost. I’ve got another one, but I have to redo the chrome on it. Pictures over in Under Glass.
  18. Nice! I did a turquoise-ish one many years ago (15-20). I still have it on the shelf (just the one picture of it though). I’m going to have these side by side as a reminder of how far I’ve come. I got the ride height sorted out, looks much better imo. I just have to add the hood ornament, scoops and stripes and this one’ll be done!
  19. Got some work done raising the rear suspension a bit, now onto lowering the front a wee bit. I had to strip and redo the hood, got all the chrome bits on, and detailed the rear light panel, though I need to touch up the red in a few spots I see.
  20. Got a bit more time for this over the last couple days. I didn’t like how the plug wore boots looked, so I redid them, and got a quick mock up. The front end sits a bit high, but the suspension isn’t glued in yet, the car is just sort of perched on it. I added power brakes from the Revell ‘69 Charger, heavy cars with Hemi power need power brakes! So far things are going well!
  21. Shambles- Thanks! Yes, all the trim is BMF. I’ve never really had trouble with it like other seem to. It can be tricky, but nothing else looks as good! Brutalform- I’ve always preferred the 440 over the Hemi. Hemi’s rules the tracks, but 440’s ruled the streets both in numbers and drivability (and who doesn’t love a six pac?!). I’ve always wondered why the Pentastars were only on the passenger side?
  22. On the two 1:1 cars I’ve had (‘66 Fury Sport and a ‘69 Monaco) they were a goldish colour, so that’s what I go with.
  23. Thanks! I usually use Tamiya Titanium Gold for the pentastar, but I did forget!
  24. Not a lot getting done on this, a lot of my time is being soaked up by another wip (‘09 Challenger) and dealing with being laid off last week (Mosaic Potash, as a company, sucks). I did get the glass in, and the motor wired up (minus the coil), and fuel lines in. I’m not too worried about the fuel lines not being perfect, as the air cleaner will cover a lot of it up.
  25. I’ve always loved these cars, and yours is coming along great! Looks a bit familiar ?
