  1. Holy cr*p .....thought I was looking at a Honda brochoure......fantastic job bro....
  2. I agree totally.....very, very, very nice....great paint.
  3. This project started as a diecast JADA 67 Impala. I removed the roof and added a roof from a 65 Malibu diecast. I then added the post and redid the taillights. Smoothed and filled everything and removed the vent windows. A cowl induction from A/FX resin was molded to the diecast hood. I then molded the bumpers to the body with the front bumper modified and yes that opening is for an intercooler. That is a diffuser under the rear, I just added the subtle trunk lip spoiler today. There is also a spoiler placed under the front bumper. The inside headlights were removed to simulate a twin turbo set up. They were done by using aluminum tubing flared out to fit the headlight bezels. The turbos were done by using the heads from two Dremel grinding bits to simulate turbines from a turbo (still some detailing to do to them). In the interior a dash from a Danburymint 67 GTO, the cluster was cut down from a 1:18 diecast 67 GTO. The bezels and steering column are my first attempt at machining (Thanks to Dirk Joseph). The one thing that is a lil different from most pro touring type cars....if you notice where the glove box should be I took the MSD and ignition components that are found in the interiors of the most NASCAR kits, cut it to fit and then placed it there. Practical...probably not but just wanted to do something different (enough TV's and DVD's) and I'm trying to go for that sort of "super car" kind of pro touring. I hope when I finish detailing that area it will give the car a lil race inspired flavor. The car will be painted an Alpine green pearl...sort of resembles a 60's type of color. The hood and trunk along with the diffuser and front spoiler along with some interior pieces will be covered in CF. And most likely the center of the rims will be also painted (gun metal or something similar). It's been slow and yes this is a curbside....but thats what I do....But I always try to give my curbsides just a lil bit more. Hope you guys like. Thanks J. Ruiz
  4. Still going....little slow....want to get er done for the NNL East. Made a few changes....really subtle changes.
  5. Guys If Im not mistaken....we are looking at a "BEST IN SHOW" winning model here....STUNNING.
  6. Hello Dave, we have never met but Dirk speaks very highly of you all the time. The last time we spoke he couldn't stop prasing your Diamond T... quote "outrageous" unquote. I hope and I'm sure one day we will meet, and I look forward to seeing this truck in person.
  7. I must say I was surprised, I thought I was going to see the "BOX" style Cavi. and "BAM" that is really cool. It is so nice to see something different. You did a nice job Bro....
  8. "SHOWOFF" Love ya Bro....
  9. WOW....very creative, very different, very artsy....very cool!!!!
  10. Bub....you didn't break any rules.....just the contrary, you have paid a small tribute to a man and his family that has made large contributions to our hobby, by the beautiful resins he brought to us...BRAVO. We will miss you Ron...
  11. Bro....I feel you on that one. I really like what you have here....keep on "shakotanin"
  12. PERFECT!!!!!
  13. Enzo....This without a doubt has been the most enjoyable post of any project coming together. The car and the amount of detail is awesome. Your persistence in seeing your goal through is inspiring. Now I am going over to "UNDER GLASS" to see your amazing photos of the completed project....I for one am truly looking forward to it. GREAT JOB BRO...

bub...you tell her for me GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!
  15. It is so nice to see something different. I really like the way she is shaping up...keep us posted man...looking good!!!!!
  16. I like em both....when ever I see those jacked up leaf springs in the back...brings me back to my childhood (I'm 47) and that was the style. I build everything low but I will get around to doing one of those....soon. Just do me one favor, I saw an episode of Barry Whites Rod Shop "Rags to Riches" he did a 55 in the same style with similar paint....one thing he did that really made the car pop was....red tinted windows 8) Keep up the good work!!!!
  17. Hey Gregg, hows it going bro. Thanks for the kind words. Funny you should mention Puerto Rico, will be there for a week starting the 19th, tell me there is a show during that time. Atlanta, Dirk has mentioned going to that one...so maybe. But what I really miss and I will be there in 2008....is where it all started for me, my favorite place to be and that place is the NNL EAST. I have 14 year old nephew who has caught the modeling bug from me...he's got it bad . I took him to his first show in Florida (MAGS show) he had a great day, he saw what great people we have in the hobby and he is hooked. I'm going to take him to the NNL EAST....I told him "get ready for sensory overload dude".... Well I hope your doing ok, hope your back is better and I hope to see you at one of the shows. PS. the mag is great....I'll be honest, it's the only one in my house. Aloha Bro.....
  18. Thanks OUTLAW...the dash started out from a Danbury Mint GTO, I removed the stock cluster from that dash and then removed a cluster from belive it or not, a 1:18 Maistro GTO Steet Machine. Had to trim and shape it to make it fit....its a lil funky but I think it works. Probably will be covering the chrome and adding CF decal except for the chrome trim rings around the actual gauges. Thanks again. And yes Bluesman, some of the teachings that Dirk has learned was from the late , great Augie Hiscano. And when ever you see Dirk talk about the man, a look of respect, admiration and sometimes sadness, because as he puts it, " we (the modeling community) not only lost a great asset and teacher, but also a greater friend to anyone who enjoyed this hobby we love so much".
  19. Yes I was fortunate enough to have met Dirk at a show in Melbourne... great, great guy whos modeling talent are mind blowing, we hit it off right away. He is the reason why I wanted a lathe/mill. As a matter of fact he will be at my house this Sunday to start my machining lessons, teaching me all about the lathe and mill (I can't wait). The intakes in the headlights are the twin turbos. Thanks for the comments guys.
  20. Hey everyone, I am posting a few pics of my 67 Biscayne. Some of you already know that this project started as a diecast JADA 67 Impala. The reason for the pics is to see what you guys think of a couple of mods I have done. 1st...front bumper mods with a molded opening for a inter-cooler also with a under the bumper air foil. 2nd, the rear...ahhh can't think of the word...ahhhh rear underbody aerodynamics..lol. I will say I saw this on a Blazer built by Dirk Joseph....it just blew me away...progress has been a lil slow but it's getting there Also is the pic of the Fathers Day gift wifey bought me...a Sherline 4000 lathe with milling attachment....with plenty of odds and ends and stuff....that's my girl. My mother n law even got me a Nesco food dehydrator Any and all comments and recomndations are welcomed and appreciated.
  21. Enzo....BRAVO....BRAVO. I can respect when you said...."you may not see it, but I do" and "it's the little things". I admire your work ethic, your eye for detail and most of all, your perserverance to build the model the way you invinsion it....no matter what!!!! I have many a time been at that last bit of work on a model....noticed something wrong...cursed, rant and raved or like you put it "banghead" took a deep breathe...and started over, and if it meant from the very begining....so be it. As Mr. Geary said this post of your build has been very entertaining, I love the way she is comming out....she looks great...can't wait to see her done. I look forward to seeing more of this post. Thanks... PS. Love the Corona bottle on the work table pic.
  22. Thats what I'm talking about....very nice Bro! Love the stance. But I would love to see a little more width on the back rim....and maybe a magnesium or flat black on the center of the rims. But dont get me wrong thats one sweet sweet build!!!
  23. WOW....very very nice work....
  24. In my opinion....sometimes less is more. And I have seen alot of NOVAS, That NOVA my friend is......really, really nice...perfect!
  25. Sweet Bro....keep up the good work!!!!
