Hey Gregg....think its time to do a "PROFILE"
-
Thats my Boy!!!! Some of you guys better hope He dont start building NASCAR
-
I have observed many of your builds. I do know that you make these subtle changes, ie: rasing and stretching those front fenders. And I will say....you pull them off perfectly. I love that Duvall windshield, I to am a very big fan of rims and rubberbands and it is the main reason why I have never built a 32, but you have pulled it off very tastefully and very nicley.

Here's my first attempt at painting True Fire
BKIN10SECS replied to Brian Nehring's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks like real fire to me.....I know this is an early stage pic.....gonna look HOT when done....great job! -
Now...I do not want to sound critical in any way. nor, do I wish to offend anyone but, most people do not really understand what it is that they are looking at. This Chevelle built by Scrappyj (Dirk Joseph) is such a Tour de Force of enginering, design, lathe and mill work, craftsmanship and execution that most model builders may think, alot of the parts used in this build are aftermarket bought items.......THEY ARE NOT! To have a vision of the type of car you wish to build, to design, enginer and MAKE the parts for that car, to make sure everything is in a respectable scale. To have them all in the right place. To have them all look good. To have them all look realistic (in a show car theme aspect) and then to put it all together, believe me is no easy task! I would be secure in saying that 99% of all the metal parts that you see (that aint no alclad) on this car were made by Scrappyj. This car has machining, brass work (that has been chrome plated) casting etc etc. Please, take the time to really look at this car, go to his fotki and you will have the pleasure of viewing, in my humble opinion one of this countrys best (and best kept secret) model builders....Scrappyj aka Dirk Joseph.

Munster Koach tv series query
BKIN10SECS replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes the Koach was an episode. How the Koach came to be was...Lilly wanted to buy Herman a birthday gift. She ends up at a used car lot and proceeds to tell the salesman that she wanted him to combine certain things from vehicles that he had on his lot.....whala....The Munster Koach (my kind of girl). The Drag Coffin was a joint effort between Herman and Grampa. If you ever have a lil extra time, watch some of these 60's TV shows. Each show had their own make of cars sponsored by different companies ie: Chevy-Bewitched, Chysler-Beverly Hillbillies and so on. You can really see some neat stuff. -
A little about Gregg Hutchins
BKIN10SECS replied to Dave Mikrut's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Plain and simple......Gregg is the real deal.....if any of you guys get a chance, and you see Gregg at a show, do me a favor. Stand back, watch him, he will treat every modeler at that show, it don't matter if you just won Best Of Show at the GSL or you just built your first Snap kit, he will always have a kind word to say about your model, and will always encourage you to keep going. He will always show his appreciation that....just like you, he shares the same love and passion for this hobby.....no matter if you are a top dog or just a small fish in the pond......Thanks Gregg -
Love them Cadi valve covers....perfect for the build....which came out really nice. Best of luck to all of you guys at Toledo.

Is this the same Terry who was known for his panel pro street builds? And was part of R&R resin?. If so....add my to the list...you have been around this hobby for a long time and on that level of model building that knows what it takes. Best of luck with this endevor. -

BKIN10SECS replied to pettyfan43's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I did not know Mr. Morgan, but if he was in this hobby of ours then he was family. My sincerest condolences goes out to his family. -
Thanks for the info Ariel...once again put me on your list for any and all of your completed old school stuff. The idea of a class trip for next years show sounds doable....you just gave me a reason to go and visit my in-laws in Bayamon.....

Never ever sleep on them guys in PR. I have seen many a car built in PR, in person, in mags and on the web and I will say they all seem to share the same trait...they have "THE LOOK". I had the pleasure of seeing Carlos Bug in person at the NNL East, it was my favorite model at the show. I found myself going back to view this car over and over again. As far as Old School Import Drag Cars are concerned no one builds them better then the guys in PR. That white first gen rx-7 is sweeeet, love the blue Corolla, I think when Fujimi put out the TE-27 Levin they declared a national holiday in PR . I was wondering....there was this model, it made many rounds in the shows got lots of coverage. I think the builder started with a Doyusha Sunny 1200 hatch, scratch built the roof and trunk and made it a notch. It was purple in color with some graphics (a drag car of course) it had something racing on the side (can't remeber the name) and it was bad a**. I was wondering if this car was ever casted or how I may get one, any info would help. Anyways I just wanted to pay mad props to the guys in PR. I look forward to seeing pics of this years show...it has become one of my favorite shows of the year. Here is my lil contribution, was built many years ago.

Well Gregg, I hope you make all of your destinations safely. Look forward to all of the coverage that you will supply for those of us who can't have the same fun (and you call it work ). As far as donations are concerned..... just watch out for those hot island woman when you go to PR....you have no idea the magical powers that they posses....

Comming along nicely....as usual

Yeah...one of those days when you will always remember where you were. I remember vividly. You see I am a retired NYC Police Officer, I ended up with 6 screws in my right knee and 4 in my left, along with 54 stitches from a gash on my lower back when the Second Tower came down. I was lucky....so many gave so, so, so much more. 9/11 was a day that changed history and changed lives. With all the things I saw that day and the days thereafter, many a person asks me about it. What I tell them is what I will tell you guys, my modeling family. In all my years working those streets (South Bronx) it was such a wonderful thing, probably the most amazing thing I have ever seen next to the births of my daughters and that was, no matter what color you were, what social or economic background you came from, no matter what political party or views you may have, no matter what religion you practice, no matter if you build NASCAR or Replica Stock, Custom or ProTouring, Curbside or Super Detailed, people came together in a way that I will never, never forget. It showed me (believe me I never thought it could happen) that it can be done, people are good and we live in the "GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD"...

Hey Marcos......YOU DA BOMB LIL BRO.....great job keep up the good work.
-
Every once in awhile someone steps up to the plate and hits a homerun....you just smacked it clear out the ballpark and into the parking lot. VERY VERY WELL DONE !!!!!

If you get a chance....take a real good look at the 1:12 Drag Bike...it is about 99% scratchbuilt. That means...frame, engine, pulleys, cogs, forks, farings, rims, even the tires. It really takes enginering abilities, and a very keen eye to make so many scratch built pieces come together so nicley, to have everything so proportionate, to have all tolerances so exact and then to put it all together cleanly. Take a look
