  1. Hey Gregg, hows it going bro. Thanks for the kind words. Funny you should mention Puerto Rico, will be there for a week starting the 19th, tell me there is a show during that time. Atlanta, Dirk has mentioned going to that one...so maybe. But what I really miss and I will be there in 2008....is where it all started for me, my favorite place to be and that place is the NNL EAST. I have 14 year old nephew who has caught the modeling bug from me...he's got it bad . I took him to his first show in Florida (MAGS show) he had a great day, he saw what great people we have in the hobby and he is hooked. I'm going to take him to the NNL EAST....I told him "get ready for sensory overload dude".... Well I hope your doing ok, hope your back is better and I hope to see you at one of the shows. PS. the mag is great....I'll be honest, it's the only one in my house. Aloha Bro.....
  2. Thanks OUTLAW...the dash started out from a Danbury Mint GTO, I removed the stock cluster from that dash and then removed a cluster from belive it or not, a 1:18 Maistro GTO Steet Machine. Had to trim and shape it to make it fit....its a lil funky but I think it works. Probably will be covering the chrome and adding CF decal except for the chrome trim rings around the actual gauges. Thanks again. And yes Bluesman, some of the teachings that Dirk has learned was from the late , great Augie Hiscano. And when ever you see Dirk talk about the man, a look of respect, admiration and sometimes sadness, because as he puts it, " we (the modeling community) not only lost a great asset and teacher, but also a greater friend to anyone who enjoyed this hobby we love so much".
  3. Yes I was fortunate enough to have met Dirk at a show in Melbourne... great, great guy whos modeling talent are mind blowing, we hit it off right away. He is the reason why I wanted a lathe/mill. As a matter of fact he will be at my house this Sunday to start my machining lessons, teaching me all about the lathe and mill (I can't wait). The intakes in the headlights are the twin turbos. Thanks for the comments guys.
  4. Hey everyone, I am posting a few pics of my 67 Biscayne. Some of you already know that this project started as a diecast JADA 67 Impala. The reason for the pics is to see what you guys think of a couple of mods I have done. 1st...front bumper mods with a molded opening for a inter-cooler also with a under the bumper air foil. 2nd, the rear...ahhh can't think of the word...ahhhh rear underbody aerodynamics..lol. I will say I saw this on a Blazer built by Dirk Joseph....it just blew me away...progress has been a lil slow but it's getting there Also is the pic of the Fathers Day gift wifey bought me...a Sherline 4000 lathe with milling attachment....with plenty of odds and ends and stuff....that's my girl. My mother n law even got me a Nesco food dehydrator Any and all comments and recomndations are welcomed and appreciated.
  5. Enzo....BRAVO....BRAVO. I can respect when you said...."you may not see it, but I do" and "it's the little things". I admire your work ethic, your eye for detail and most of all, your perserverance to build the model the way you invinsion it....no matter what!!!! I have many a time been at that last bit of work on a model....noticed something wrong...cursed, rant and raved or like you put it "banghead" took a deep breathe...and started over, and if it meant from the very begining....so be it. As Mr. Geary said this post of your build has been very entertaining, I love the way she is comming out....she looks great...can't wait to see her done. I look forward to seeing more of this post. Thanks... PS. Love the Corona bottle on the work table pic.
  6. Thats what I'm talking about....very nice Bro! Love the stance. But I would love to see a little more width on the back rim....and maybe a magnesium or flat black on the center of the rims. But dont get me wrong thats one sweet sweet build!!!
  7. WOW....very very nice work....
  8. In my opinion....sometimes less is more. And I have seen alot of NOVAS, That NOVA my friend is......really, really nice...perfect!
  9. Sweet Bro....keep up the good work!!!!
  10. WOW...how cool is it that, while waiting for the paint to dry on one project you whip up something so tasty....love the combo....
  11. Bravo....very very well done!!!!
  12. Sometimes less is more....and that baby is PERFECT. Great choice of color, great stance, love the painted rims....CLEAN. I like it I like it alot!!!
  13. In my humble opinion, stance and wheel & tire choice is everything, it could make or break a car! And it looks to me that you are right on with both. The 66/67 Nova has always been a favorite...but I'll tell you I am really interested with the outcome of the 76....a much overlooked Nova.....keep it comming Bro.... Just one other thing...who did you order the resin hood from. The reason I ask is because I ordered a resin hood for a 67 Impala from A/FX Resin 6 months ago....no reply...no hood....but the checked was cashed. Thanks.
  14. Dats my boy....
  15. Hey Marcos....sorry but you are right...it sounds sad but I am horrible with names. But you know how I rember? Just show me know your builds. Man I really miss all you guys up there and Thanks for the kind words. But "I WILL BE AT THE NNL EAST NEXT YEAR". Once agian Thanks for the kind words and tell all the guys hope to see them soon.
  16. Thanks Tom, I relocated from New York to Florida and haven't been able to get to the NNL EAST, but I have seen plenty of pics of this years show and I will say, your Chrysler was my favorite...Thanks again for the info. I posted some "wip" pics of a Biscayne awhile back that I'm building and that is the color I am looking for. Thanks again.
  17. That is really sharp. If I may...I love the Chrysler you did for the NNL East. Could you please tell me what color is on that car and who makes it. Thanks.
  18. Very Cool....but if I may, how long did it take you to complete? It amazes me how quick some of you guys are
  19. Het Bob....yes I did. Retired at age 43 and moved to Florida.....but dont be fooled, now I have to work for a living...lol. I really miss you guys, miss the LIARS CLUB the LIARS SHOW, NNL EAST, MASSCAR etc. Thanks for the info on the doors will look into it and Gods willing I will make the NNL next year. Tell the guys I said hello and if any of you guys are in the Orlando area area, please let me know...my house is all of yours house. Take care Jay
  20. Thanks Dave check ur inbox...
  21. Hello everyone, just wanted to post a couple of pics (sorry for the quality) of my 67 Biscayne. I started with a diecast JADA 67 Impala took the roof off a 65 Malibu and tried to make a Biscayne. I have filled and smoothed everything. Smoothed both bumpers and added an intake to the front bumper for an intercooler. The car will be done in a curbside style (pretty much all I build) but with a lil more detail. I have the twin turbo inlets going through the inside headlight buckets, the interior will have an 8 point cage and full custom interior. You may also see from the pics that the rear has a belly pan. Still have a way to go. Comments welcome. Thanks BEFORE AFTER
  22. Hey, there are a couple that I know of the MAGS club and the Table Top Crusiers. I just attended my first show since I moved here and it was with the MAGS guys.....good bunch of guys. http://mags.name/home
  23. Hey Gregg....yes it is. First, I wanted to say that I am so GLAD you are doing better. Since we last met.....I retired and relocated to Florida. I have been here about 3 years now. Second, I wanted to say Thank you, not just for putting my cars in your magazine and always saying a kind word about them but, what means the most to me is, you always start describing my cars with these words, "and this was built by our friend". I want you to know that you will always have a friend here. If you or your family are ever in Florida, you have a home here! As far as building is concerned I just attended a little show put on by the "MAGS" club.....great great bunch of guys and a nice little show. The one highlight for me was meeting a gentleman at this show, I'm sure you will recognize the name, Mr. Dirk Joseph. We struck up friendship right away, and Mr. Joseph really dug my cars and has somewhat taken my under his wing. He has put me on the track of trying to reach that next level. I am sure you know that Mr. Joseph machining talents are.... WOW and he has graciously given me so much info on lathes, milling and machining that I'm about to purchase my first lathe and mill. My current project is a "diecast" 1967 Impala which I have converted to a 67 Biscayne. You know how I build Gregg and it will be of the Pro Touring style, I will post pics soon. So once again, good to hear from you, I am flattered that you remember me and that the magazine has without a doubt become "the" magazine of our hobby. God Bless Jay and Family
