Sometimes I get an urge. Yesterday the urge to whack the Revell coupe got the best of me. I'm not gonna pretend I know what I'm doing and I don't recommend using my methods to anyone. I removed the rain gutter completely and may not replace it, I'm undecided. I removed the backlight section, it stays un-chopped. I took about 3/16" out of the A and B , nothing too unmanageable. The B pillar gets aligned and sets the new height. Then I filled the front gap with evergreen scrap material. This joinery is held together mostly with CA but some of it is welded with Mr. Hobby thin cement. The C pillars needed some help landing so I added some .020 sheet scrap. CA slinging everywhere, the smell of kicker wafting about. A piece was removed to allow the backlight section to be positioned farther to the rear which allows it to lay down a bit more. Incidently, I have employed nail silk on the inside of the pillars and coated with CA as an experiment. Something I learned about on this very forum. 😉 Time for BONDO! I love that smell. Now it's time for getting all the scribe lines straight. I hate this part. Thanks for stopping in 🖐🤓

That's looking real nice, Bob. I've always liked the '35.

Yep. I like it, Dennis. The Poncho grille is good balance for the Merc tail lights. By any chance, will you be "crowning" this Victoria?
-
Ron, that body does look like new! What brand of purple are you using?
-
Looks like you already have this well in hand, Dennis! (Mine's not RA but it may as well be.) I like the mild custom idea for this body style. In my mind, it needs very little to improve it. It's all about the paint after that, right? It's a great body style. Nice paint and some lowering, that's all.

Not much room for that Firedome, huh? Nice job on the doors, Jon, and the exhaust routing! Thanks for sharing, it's a beauty. Super nice detailing. I'd love to see the build thread on it.

That color combo looks great, Bob. Using a later flathead is a cool idea too.

Got the boards painted, and the gas tank. Windshield is in, dash installed. Almost there, thanks for looking.

I'll second that notion 🤚

Much better, Ron. I'm with you on Tamiya rattle cans. Way better than Rustoleum garbage.

OK then, I scratched some running board support brackets. Without them, even my svelte 😉 170 lbs. would bend them in half and destroy the ends of the fenders. Below is a board from the Revell kit The AMT, as I'm sure you know, has no detail under their boards. They do, however have some really nice ejector pin circles which I have enjoyed removing. A little heavy, material-wise, but it was a simple scratch using Evergreen shapes. Easy peezy 😎 Tomorrow I'll spray' em with semi-gloss black along with the boards. Well, I've stretched this post as far as I can so..................see ya!

Nope. What ever is in the box. Could be the pink elephant 🐖 oops.....🦏.....no, wait.....🐘. There we go 🙂. Gotta spray the boards too, and make board brackets ( not necessarily in that order). I'm really liking the Tamiya spray paint. Have I mentioned that? 🥴

Moving right along on this gorgeous Mothers' Day, I've got the tudor spruced up for the occasion. All polished up and foiled. I still need to install a trunk handle and do a little more chrome work. Then I need to get some glass in the holes. There's more work to be done on the interior, particularly the dash but today she looks like this 👇

I reeeeealy like the way this is going, Greg. The roof looks great. I like the second spoon from the left. I'm glad to see this build moving forward.- 97 replies

Actually, I'm not wearing them. I hate them and they were a waste of $1500.00. There! I said it! ...and then it dawned on me. You're talking about a bottom-feeder. Not a top-loader. 🤣

Huh? I don't think I heard that right 🤔

Thanks, Bill.

I'm happy to see your deuce coupe is BACK IN BLACK ! 😀

What's the difference now that we have Carfax to rat you out?🤷♂️

Yeah, I thought about that, Lenny. I tried to get a job there once 50 years ago so I don't feel bad. But here's a scenario: it gets banged up during the qualifying heat and they pull it out as best they can in the pit and now it's time for the feature. It's embarrassing, but at least it's still able to finish the night. Right? Or...there's the irony aspect. Yeah 🤔. It's explainable.

Twas no big deal. 🥴 It was just the usual stuff with an AMT chassis and some simple scratch stuff. Nothing you haven't seen before, Greg. The mesh was from a tea ball. Tires from the stash. Heads are MCG. Just having fun with left-over parts and Evergreen. There was something inspired by Lenny, though. The "hood" hinges. I noticed some of the cars I researched used flat sheet metal or cut-down hoods and fastened them with outside hinges. I made some functional gate hinges. I figured it would be an easy way for the 1:1 builder to slap a hood on and use readily available items that could be welded on to hinge it. Gate hinges! 🙂

As you may know, the tudor is a combination of three kits....well, two kits and a rebuilder from fleabay. What to do with all that extra '40 ford material? Well, the Revell coupe, you may recall, was married to the fresh AMT chassis and is currently in the paint prep process and will be getting a bit more attention soon. That left me with a fresh AMT coupe body but a sorry-a55 chassis that I removed the rear end from (for another project). Long story short: I built a vintage nostalgia short track stocker. It was a fun project and I documented the build but I don't feel it's worth an entire build thread. It's not fancy. I used wheels from a NASCAR kit as well as a few other items. It does not depict any particular classification of vehicle but rather a cross-section of various cars I found on the web. It leans more toward 1/4 - 1/2 mile banked oval tracks in the early to late '50s with more modern wheels and tires. It's not accurate, I know that. And it's not 100% yet but it's close enough for now. It was just fun. Thanks for looking and your restrained criticism is always welcome 🙂.

Easy door handles and window cranks

Ooooooo......I love it! I wish I had thought of it, Greg. Maybe if you had just not thought about it a bit longer........naaaah 😔. -
I can't say I blame you, Ron, for discarding a spray-can of Testor's. I'm surprised it hadn't already leaked out the bottom. The bubbles are kind of a mystery, though. I ran into bubble trouble (see what I did there?) a while back. Was the can full and cold?
