  1. lol just want to make sure, ive build things before and have gotten an ear full for using somebody else's design. i always try to ask out of respect for other peoples work.
  2. glad to help. im a huge fan of ford engines, own 3 personally, a 302, 460, and a 330 thats in my truck. plan to one day build custom engines and would like to have fords as my specialty.
  3. thats nice man, i waiting to finish buying up the list of cars i currently want then i plan to buy a dehydrator and attach the top to my paint booth so it can double as a drying oven. anybody know how hot those dehydrators get?
  4. i love camping. I am currently at Sam Houston Jones state park and have the life here, a little fishing in the morning, take a nap, work on some models i brought with me that sort of took over the back bedroom of my camper, have wifi to keep up with the forum and my email. and its nice and quiet, no body around here bothers you, its all shaded by trees. Why cant it be this nice at home. only problem i have is that im away from my bench with the rest of my modeling stuff and i am unable to paint anything over here.
  5. i just use regular window tint for vehicles. i have friends that do tinting and they save me good scraps so i can get it free. it goes on easy, dont have to worry about it ruining the part, and if you mess up all you do is pull it off and clean the glue with soapy water and cut a new piece. can get it colored, and different shades of black. can also get it for very cheap by the foot off of ebay and thats also where you can find the colored tint. also the window cement doesnt eat it up so i consider it the best to use. just be sure to use a real sharp blade to cut it or you get jagged edges and can tear it when you try to peal it from the clear backing.
  6. the 427 also had different oil passages running different ways than the other big blocks limiting the heads to be usable only on a 427. as for the crank it can interchange and is sometimes used in stroker kits for the 460. as for the hemi version i have heard rumor of this engine but have not personally found that its real. now for a modern day ford big block hemi i would look to Jon Kaase Racing. they currently make hemi heads for fords and look really good. for it to be a hemi the spark plugs have to be at the top of the combustion chamber and centered to be able to have clearance for the valves. they are also much beefier to handle the added pressure due to the increased compression ration that results from the design. here is a link to the Jon Kaase site. now the motor in the link is a stroked 460 but the physical appearance of a 460 and a 427 are so close its hard to tell unless you pull a valve cover off and look at where the oil galleys are. http://www.jonkaaser...-ford-hemi.html
  7. man you have answered a prayer of mine. i have been trying to find a booster from a kit to use in my current project. im goin get some styrene as soon as i can make a trip to hobby town.
  8. good to know, i think i will play with that a bit when i make one. hope you dont mind if i borrow your design. i just find homemade tools like that way cool.
  9. would changing the size of the hole effect the amount that comes out?
  10. what is the purpose of the small disk and hole in the middle of the tube? and im guessing that the air is hooked to the longer side
  11. i wouldnt doubt that foose drew up the box art himself. he is an amazing car designer and artist. one of those people i want to meet in life and be able to work on a classic muscle car with.
  12. simple is more in some cases and this certainly is one of those cases. nice job and welcome back to the real world.
  13. let me know how this one all fits together. i have the same kit coming in on a trade and would love to hear from you on how the parts all fit and such. much love on the tribute idea, shelby will be greatly missed.
  14. i agree with the above, im not real big on metal flake to start. really only care for it on gassers and low riders. still this looks like it would be cool to have to experiment with. i wonder how well pearl dust would cover. could also see using it for weathering large sections and things like that. looks like i just gave myself a second homemade tool to make when i get home from camping.
  15. im jealous man, wish i had that kind of a color selection. nice idea to make it inside the wall
  16. all i think it that it is, is a homemade flake gun. instead of using a normal airbrush and spraying flake through it and risk clogging it this is a dedicated flake gun. i like it, pretty smart to make it, could only imagine what a store bought one like that would run.
  17. thats cool. i think i might try and find a craft or hobby store and make that while im camping. would be perfect for my 49 merc.
  18. is there a tutorial video of how to make decals for models anywhere. they have youtube and other sites with video blocked at this camp ground to keep people from hogging the bandwidth so i cant look for it for another 3 days.
  19. are there any clubs in or near Lafayette, LA i know there are a couple events going on at the hobbytown in Lafayette but do not know of any clubs in the area, would love to join if possible.
  20. i plan to use factory colors so that i can buy them at autozone, pepboys, and other such places. there is a ppg store about 20 mins away though that i could get custom paint if i ever wanted to, the guide coat is a good idea to. i have yet to need to do that because i have just started to really get into body mods and things that would require me to use filler and sanding.
  21. ahh camping, fire, good drinks, and wifi lol

  22. well that should have been common sense to me given my current/future career as an mechanic and hopefully custom car/ engine builder. but i guess it slipped my mine. when i get back from camping ill make a run to the parts store and pick up some duplicolor and start doing it better. thanks all for the tips and ill look more into that future stuff.
  23. i think i have some still left from when i painted a set of cylinder heads a while back. and you put this before the color? seems odd to me
  24. i use an automotive primer already but its a cheap brand that i have had do pretty well for me so far and at a few dollars a can i am able to prime every part before i spray color.
  25. that much i know when it comes to auto paint, to use same brands when it comes to primer, sealer, paint, and clear. not sure if it ever crossed my mind when i tried to paint that model ( 67 gto) lol. What is Future?
